so-soI loved the vaguely Russian setting and the different classes of magic but overall the book was pretty "meh". The main character was bland and the main love interest equally so. I've no interest in reading the rest of their story but I probably will because The Darkling is an excellent and intriguing villain. #favevillain #riotgrams
As much as I love heroes & heroines, they aren't nearly as interesting without the perfect villain. There are many wonderful villains out there (Moriarty and Umbrage are fantastic), but my #favevillain come Guiding Light. I loved that soap opera back in the 80s & 90s. I love Reva Shayne, but Annie Dutton (portrayed by Cynthia Watros) was abfab! A villain you love to hate is among the greatest pleasures of books, movies, and yes, even soap operas.
For my #favevillain , I'm going to go with Count Olaf. Partially because I am currently reading these books for (mostly) the first time, but also because he is just so... Olaf. He's absurd and ridiculous and I think that NPH plays him perfectly in the new Netflix series! I am always amused by his antics (even though they're nefarious) and I am usually dashing to the finish to find out what he'll think of next! #RiotGrams
I haven't actually read this series yet, but I watch the show, and I absolutely LOVE Moriarty! By far my #favevillain of all time.

Playing a little catch up, I missed yesterday's #SeptPhotoChallenge. The woods in this book are my #FaveVillain! I love that the woods, from the creatures that dwell there to the trees themselves, are sentient and have an agenda that includes feeding people to trees!
