#DoorstopKristin check-in! How‘s your reading going? I‘m moving along steadily—I finished part 2 this week and am finding it so readable. I have to admit that although I feel for her, I‘ve been a little frustrated with Kristin. And I‘m not a fan of Erlend! What are your thoughts on Kristin and Erlend? And Simon? #KLBR

I admit that I confused this family with the Borgia family. They were very similar, in fact, so I don't feel too foolish. They started as bankers in Florence. It seemed to me that every other generation was patrons to the arts, while the other generations were lazy and/or violent. The family was often fighting the papacy except when they had a son or nephew as a pope. I'm glad I read it. I learned more about Italy's history before unification.

I made Kalaallit Kaagiat, a raisin and cardamom bread, using the automatic translation of this page: https://mamarisavut.gl/da/opskrifter/groenlandsk-kage-med-aeggepulver/ The English recipes I found online were a lot sweeter, which didn't appeal as much. It was like a slightly cardamom-scented pannetone & perfect with coffee.
