I picked this one up because it is by an Ohio author who decided to use the Buckeye Trail (a trail that travels in a circle around Ohio) as part of her setting. However, this just didn't really work for me. A lot of the characters' actions didn't really make sense, especially towards the end. The motivation of the killer also had me a little confused as well. It was an okay read, but I don't see myself picking up the sequel.

TheAromaofBooks @lauredhel - I've found this year's prompts more challenging!! I still have five left. I'm not very scientific about this challenge. I seem to just go on vibes 😂 2w

Lauredhel @willaful Are you looking for any ideas? How about Glitter & Mayhem? Space Opera by Cat Valente? Sourdough? October Daye? Midnight Radio? 2mo
TheAromaofBooks I haven't had as good of luck this year - I'm only halfway!! 2mo
Lauredhel @TheAromaofBooks we're not THAT far past the gangway mark of the year, are we? (Don't answer that) 2mo

Georgiana finds a body outside of Kensington Palace, and has to figure out how it got there and why. The deceased has been a mistress to many, including some of the royal family and members of Parliament, so Georgie's investigating has to be very discreet.

I have really enjoyed reading this series, but didn't really like the previous book. So I was very glad that this one had an interesting storyline again.

Amy Tan's illustrations are beautiful, and her notes about her observations of the birds that visit her yard are so interesting! She also includes some information that she's learned from expert birders. Unfortunately not all of her observations are happy, and it makes me sad to think of birds getting ill and being in distress, but I guess that's part of nature, too.

It took a few chapters for me to get into this story, but once I did I liked it for the most part. I thought there were a few flaws in the storyline, but it was a fun story of Lily, Nicole, Leo, Walt, Bradley, and Terry on a treasure hunt for the stolen money of Butch Cassidy.

TheAromaofBooks This one just wasn't what I was expecting. I felt like nothing I read prepared me for an actual murder, so it made some of the fun campier vibes feel out of place to me. 9mo

Gift from the Sea | Anne Morrow Lindbergh

Pickpick

I first read this book back in 2012 and knew it was one I wanted to find and add to my own collection. Lindbergh writes from a seaside cottage where she is on holiday, each chapter looking at a different seashell and using it to reflect on a different aspect of life. Published in 1955, it was an era where woman were still mostly home-focused, but with advancing technology opening up more time and opportunities for them. I found her thoughts on ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) the importance of seeking solitude, finding creative work/hobbies, understanding and accepting that relationships go through cycles, and finding ways to take time to ground yourself to be thoughtful and encouraging.

TheAromaofBooks At only 128 pages, this is a slim volume and I enjoyed chewing on a chapter a day. I've been meaning to revisit this one for years, and thanks to the #MonthlyNonfiction challenge I picked up this 128 (Philosophy/Epistemology/Humankind) and checked the 100s off the list!! @julieclair

julieclair Love that vintage edition! I have owned this book for years, I suppose it‘s time I read it. 🤪 9mo
TheAromaofBooks @BooksandCoffee4Me @julieclair - This one definitely benefited from only reading a chapter every day or two. It was a nice book to savor. 9mo
julieclair @TheAromaofBooks That‘s helpful to know. 9mo
kspenmoll I have my mom‘s copy with its well worn, slightly torn book cover. She gave a copy to all of her daughters & daughters in law ( total 7) in her will. 9mo

Pickpick

Rachel and Drew are dealing with the care of their aging mom who has Alzheimers and often doesn't recognize them. On one of Rachel's visits, her mom tells her about a book she wants her to find. The sisters find the book hidden in their mom's sewing room, a book about a woman named Tomoe Gozen who was a samurai warrior in Japan in the 1100s. They wonder what it has to do with their mom, and why she wanted to make sure they had it.
