I read this when I was a junior in high school. I thought I didn‘t remember any of it, but I actually remembered multiple parts of it. This is such an important novel both literarily and socially. This could be such a conversation starter. Sadly, there were no conversations about this book in my junior English class. This is another of those books that should absolutely be required reading.

I suspect my Jeff Lemire craze is far from over. This is due back at the library today, so I read it over lunch.

Debut novel about what it‘s like to grow up as a black man in mid-century America. Many experiences throughout show how blacks are treated just because they are black. Book should not be confused with H.G. Wells book where the invisible man is actually invisible. Race is what will keep this black man in his permanent underclass status thus denying him his humanity. It is a powerful read that should not be missed.

Another book I just adore. I checked it out from the library years ago but couldn't find a physical copy...I finally found a random site on the Internet that sold it :-).

This is my #invisibleman entry. The jesters in this series are cunning, sneaky, and able to blend into the background, all while sharing information with their brethren and their patrons. #Bonus: this one is the "real" story of _Hamlet_.

#MonsterMadness2017 #day7 #InvisibleMan Annie Wilkes is the perfect character for this prompt. Moving through life, she's the kind of person you just don't notice, until she's got you tied to a bed while wielding an axe. Selfish to the extreme, her emotions like a volcanic seesaw, she's definitely the personification of all things wrong with the human race. Chilling, terrifying & plain batshit crazy.

#monstermadness2017 Diogenes Pendergast could be an #invisibleman . He is selfish, lacks empathy, and exaggerates his emotions (is actually sort of a super villain).

FYI: These three books, The Diogenes Trilogy, are actually book 5, 6, and 7 in the Pendergast series. 🙂

While not invisible, Ladybird Hope was definitely selfish and had no sympathy for anyone. She tried to kill the beauty queens and killed her lover. She probably exaggerated her emotions too; she was trying to run for president after all.

Ladybird has the same traits as #TheInvisibleMan, minus being invisible.
