Turning back to by audiobook #readathon #afterparty

Sarahreadstoomuch Finished: so-so. Good narration, and I love the design of this book (I have print copy too). It did get suspenseful and crazy... but the pacing was weird. #LitsyReadingChallenge #LitsyRC23 (unless I read something scarier) 7y

This was awful and creepy and splendid and unique. A very worthy #litsyrc23 - freezer worthy horror.

If you are a genre fiction fan and haven't already done so, do check out the Twelve Planets series by Twelfth Planet Press : a series of books of mixed-length short fiction collections from Australian women SF/F/horror writers. Good for your indie publisher category too.

YA horror anthology with some genuine creepsters - a few even worming their way into my subconscious in delightfully eerie ways. Really enjoyed the riff on Alice in Wonderland by Carrie Ryan; also rec the Cat Winters, Leigh Bardugo, and Megan Shepherd stories. Overall solid compilation, though the YA-ness came across in the common reference points to recent pulpy movies, & the emphasis on ramifications and pay back. For reading challenges 👇

Larkken #LitsyAtoZ @BookishMarginalia letter T (though that feels like cheating since she only wrote one story here!) . #LitsyReadingChallenge #LitsyChallenge2017 #LitsyRC23, Freezer-worthy horror (edited) 7y

#Litsybingo #LitsyRC23 A book that takes place over 150 years ago.

Definitely lives up to the hype!

Maybe not freezer worthy but certainly scary enough that I didn't want to close my eyes in the shower. 😂 This was my first of Joe Hill's books and I'm hooked. Well done!

I just discovered Hoopla. Where has this been all my life? The audio version is freekin scary. #Litsyreadingchallenge #LitsyRC23

Suzze I love Hoopla! 7y
AWahle I am listening to this right now too - Kate Mulgrew is a great narrator! 7y
saresmoore I just started using it, too! It's amahzing! 7y

Debiw781 His books are always great on audio! 7y
jessberk13 What is hoopla!? 7y
WendyL @jessica it's an app that lets you borrow ebooks, audio books and movies with your library card if your library supports it. Between the Cloud library and Hoopla, I can find almost anything I want. 7y
jessberk13 Hmmm. How is that different from Overdrive? Or is it the same thing? 7y
WendyL It's similar but my library stopped supporting Overdrive a while ago. I think they offer more options through Hoopla 7y

I'm sick of my song playlist at the gym so today I started listening to Nos4a2. This is my #freezerworthyhorror for the #LitsyBingo #LitsyReadingChallenge2017. So far so good. Kate Mulgrew has a great voice for narration. #LitsyRC23

RiotMom Her narration of this book is SO. GOOD. 7y
Sweettartlaura GREAT book! 7y
Theresa I'm using it for that same prompt & am listening right now. It's my 1st Joe Hill & I'm loving it!! 7y
AWahle @Theresa Someone lent me Heart Shaped Box years ago - I remember it being pretty awesome too. Horns was good, but not as good as Box or NOS4A2 so far. 7y

I've been painstakingly compiling my list for the #LitsyReadingChallenge today. I'm almost done, but I'm stumped on a couple of categories. Any suggestions for a book written from multiple perspectives or a not-too-scary horror option? Thanks in advance!

#LitsyRC10 #LitsyRC23

Moray_Reads Hits both 😆 7y
Bookworm54 If you haven't read this yet, it covers multiple POVs 7y
Blair_Reads Horrorstor was one that wasn't too scary. 7y

Bookworm54 Oooo yes! I agree with @Blair_Reads Horrorstor is a fairly quick read too 🙂 7y
Ericmanciniwriter Welcome to the goon squad was a good multiple POV 7y
saresmoore @Moray_Reads And it's over 400 pages, so that ticks another box! Thanks! 7y
Moray_Reads @saresmoore it's a mad, mad, brilliant, mad book. Very divisive but I loved it 7y
saresmoore @Moray_Reads It sounds right up my alley, actually! 7y
saresmoore @Bookworm54 Believe it or not, I haven't read Homegoing! And I was looking for somewhere to fit it in the challenge. Thank you! 7y
saresmoore @Blair_Reads I was considering Horrorstor, especially considering that at least 50% of my home is furnished by IKEA...seems appropriate! Thank you. 7y
saresmoore @Eamann Goon Squad sounds great, actually. Thanks! 7y
jessberk13 Almost all of Liane Moriarty's books are multiple perspectives. I'm also thinking Horrorstör for my horror read. If you haven't already, NOS4A2 is a very creepy read! (edited) 7y
Bookworm54 @saresmoore I only read it because it was for book club, but it is amazing. I would never have usually picked it up otherwise! Or I wouldn't have before Litsy... now I want to read everything 😋 7y
Kalalalatja For a multiple POV book I would also recommend 7y
saresmoore @Kalalalatja Arcadia sounds amazing! Thank you! 7y
saresmoore @jessica Thank you! I actually haven't read anything or Moriarty's yet, so that's a great tip. However, NOS4A2 sounds WAY too scary for my taste! 😱 7y
Bookzombie It doesn't specify age so maybe try a young adult or middle grade. I think Anna Dressed In Blood counts. So does R.L. Stine and Christopher Pike. Also Coraline. Or maybe something considered classic like Frankenstein or Dracula. 7y
saresmoore @Bookzombie That's a great idea! I've already read Frankenstein and Dracula multiple times, but still haven't gotten around to Coraline! And my list is noticeably lacking in Gaiman. :) Thanks! 7y
Bookzombie @saresmoore Yay, glad to help! 7y
Megabooks Not too bad on the scary scale and it's funny too (edited) 7y
drokka Anything by Robert McCammon would work for your not too scary horror. If you want a big book I recommend Swan Song, but my favourite is Wolf's Hour. If you'd rathe do short stories, Blue World would fit. 7y
saresmoore @Ebooksandcooks I am nervous about the demon possession theme as it is, honestly, a little too real life for me. But funny sounds like it doesn't take the demonic theme too seriously? 7y
saresmoore @drokka Thank you for the recommendation. I've never read any McCammon, but now I'm very intrigued. 7y
Megabooks No it really doesn't imo. I was worried initially too. It was my first horror book and I didn't find it very scary. More fun. 7y
saresmoore @Ebooksandcooks Well, that's a relief, because I've been intrigued by the Litsy reviews. I think it's definitely worth a try. Thank you! 7y
obviateit Just stopping by to recommend Frankenstein and Dracula as not at all scary, and I saw that @Bookzombie already did. So, consider this a seconding of that! 😊 7y
LiteraryinLawrence I agree with @jessica about Liane Moriarty! A good one to start with might be 7y
