gossamerchild @Traci1 No, I mean with the message of being kind to people and always looking on the bright side of life kind of preachy. A message I 1000% agree with, which is what makes it a little eye-rolly at times, for me. But again, it's not THAT heavy handed, so it was okay. 4mo

Listen to the audiobook, I tell you, it‘s so much better that way. Saying why exactly would be a spoiler, so I won‘t, but there‘s an in-universe reason; also, great production value.

This book is all I wished The Martian to be.

eol @catsuit_mango it's too far into the game, I think. But it's done really well. They gave it this polyphonic, musicky feeling. And the wordless sounds - like surprise, delight, or sadness - are good, too. 2y

This one goes into “Romancing a Trainwreck“ bucket, on both sides of the fence. Both the MC and his love interest have issues — or rather, their issues have issues. Which is part of the reason why this book is so fun. That's a hard balance to strike, to give your characters enough faults to make them relatable but not enough to make them unlikable, and the author manages splendidly.
