Okay, first big stress-event has been hurdled - the realtor came and looked at our house and told us she thinks it will sell for more than we thought WHEW. We have lived here ten years and COMPLETELY remodeled this place and tbh it's a weird little house but we love it and having someone come and tell us how much it was worth kind of felt like we were taking a final test 😂 Next step is waiting to hear from the bank!! Lots of feelings right now. ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) ANYWAY hoping to read these two books this week. And tomorrow I have to get the oil changed on my car, so that's always good reading time!! Wrapped Up in Christmas is one of my #CasttheDie reads and The Book Club Hotel is one of my #SnowedIn picks - I really enjoy Sarah Morgan's Christmas stories, so I'm excited about that one. Time to start plowing through the #MidweekMuddle !!! Christmas next week already! How! 😆 24h

This was an interesting read. Benjamin Franklin (yes, that one) spends his free time in London solving crimes. I enjoyed this enough to read more of the series.

This author! I‘ve now read two of her books and I‘m a big fan. A sad, older couple want a child so badly. So when they build a darling little snow girl and wrap her in a red scarf, is it any wonder when they “imagine” her alive? In deep winter in Alaska, a little girl with striking blond hair starts to visit their homestead and in her own way helps them survive their first harsh winter there. But she refuses to stay with them; how can she ⬇️

Texreader survive? Their closest homesteading family (set in the early 1900s) become good friends with the couple but simply do not believe that the girl exists, much less survives the harshest of winters. The story follows this couple and the snow girl into their old age. This story is beautiful and beautifully written. 3d

This was the longest audiobook I‘ve picked up in a while, 21hrs!! But I was hooked! 2 kingdoms, a winter and summer kingdom are at war. Winter conquers Summer and his prize is a summerly princess as a bride. There is a lot of tension, her father is awful and it was annoying how much Winter did not trust Kham. Overall, I really liked this one!

#10BeforeTheEnd is shaping up for me. I‘m going to read that Control Unleashed book if it kills me! I‘ve had it on my #TBR for so long.

My last three fiction books should be fast reads. I‘m putting my audiobook of Dungeon Crawler Carl aside while I listen to my library Libby hold for the Marvellers, one of my #SnowedIn choices. But I know I‘ll get back to Carl. Princess Donut will not be ignored!

For now, I‘m reading the tagged ebook🦠❄️🏔️

I am fully here for a queer Arthurian romp. This isn't it.

It's set in a fictitious Catholic England several generations after Arthur and Camelot. The country is split between the Catholics and the Cultists - people who believe in Arthurian legend, it wasn't terribly clear.

Catholicism has no impact on anything. The story is play acting as Medieval Europe full of anachronisms and pop culture references.

PuddleJumper It's silly. Which is fine but then there's threats from Norway, religious friction, fears over succession that we're supposed to take seriously even when the characters do not.

It's frustrating. Either be silly or a well researched historical book. You can't smoosh them together and hope for the best.

PuddleJumper Even ignoring that, because that could be a me thing, this is so boring! The characters are one dimensional. They grow a little as the story develops but not much.

They would have been more interesting with a good dose of Catholic guilt and existential dread.

Bookwormjillk I can‘t stand when a book isn‘t what I want it to be! 2w
PuddleJumper @Bookwormjillk I really wanted a gayer version of BBC's Merlin 😅 I didn't enjoy their Regency books either so may be an issue with humour styles not meshing. 2w
CSeydel Ugh! Worse than just “a bad book” is a book that has so much potential to be really amazing but the author fumbles it. Sorry this one didn‘t work for you - so frustrating 2w
PuddleJumper @CSeydel Yeah, it's a shame because it sounded good! Onto the next one 2w
5feet.of.fury Yeah I agree, especially the way the threats to the throne were just thrown in here or there. 2w
BookmarkTavern Oh I hate that, when a book doesn‘t live up to its promise! Hope your next read is better! 2w
TheAromaofBooks I get so aggravated by books that can't decide what they want to be!! 2w

I really wanted to like this. It has a lot of elements that get me excited. Unfortunately, it didn't work for me. Too much telling and not enough showing.

The first 60% of the book is just exposition and info dumping.

It was character driven except none of the characters were interesting. Hardly any of them had any development.

It was very slow and boring. I'm so disappointed.
