4.5/5 ⭐️
Aaaaand DONE! I really enjoyed this one. It‘s been on my shelf forever. I‘m glad #authoramonth prompted me to finally read it.
Alex Stern is a great character and the premise was really interesting. It took me a minute to get into the format and timelines but it was worth it. I added the second book to my BOTM. Offspring was thrilled that I liked it. She read a while ago and can‘t find anyone who liked it 🤣.

Finally finished the short stories of the Locke family. Definitely a prequel and such wonderful artwork and very happy with the Sandman crossover story.

When a group of re-enactors turns up for a week-long festival one of the candidates for their leader is murdered by eating a poisoned fig pastry. Meanwhile Simon has his own problems with the arrival of his academic and vampiric mentor as one of the suspects

Nice final novel wrapping up various plot lines, though some threads are still left hanging. I'm pleased to say I got the who right even if i didn't get the why.

This felt very much introductory, like a pilot episode. I liked it well enough so far, would be curious to read more.

This novel did not go in any of the several directions I expected it to, which was actually kind of delightful. It's a bizarre story of family systems, mourning, and discovering new ways of upholding responsibilities when the old ones no longer work. In a way, it's kind of a coming-of-age story for the painful growing up one does when our parents no longer carry us (literally and metaphorically), for whatever reason and at whatever age.

JacqMac This one is on my TBR. I might have to move it closer to the top. 3d
imthatniki I read her Desert Creatures last year, it also dealt with themes of grief and family 2d
ImperfectCJ @imthatniki I've owned a copy of Desert Creatures for a while, but I kept putting off reading it (without a library due date, I tend to let books linger). Now that I've enjoyed The Bog Wife, I am putting Desert Creatures higher on my list. 2d

So in the last couple of weeks I've discovered this manga and I absolutely fell in love with it! It's called The Summer Hikaru Died and while it's technically classified as horror it's so much more than that! And also, the artwork is absolutely gorgeous! 🥰

That persistent need in every person lately to skip half the vampire literature and go straight to Twilight is what we need to reduce. In my opinion, you should read the vampire books in order to better understand these creatures of the night. In Twilight, there are some things that aren't explained as much as in other vampire books. Recommended, yes, but after you've read Dracula, Nosferatu, or Leslat
