Taking some liberties with the syllable pattern today.
Today's compliment:

anything you wear, Mom."
High praise from my almost-16-year-old.

We do not care if husband steps right over folded sheets and towels sitting right there on the stairs to be brought up. We will call him out on it anyway to which he will reply that HE DIDN‘T SEE THEM!

This is one of my favorite of King's books. I can't wait to see the movie this September.
Set in a dystopian America, 100 boys are chosen for the long walk, where they walk until only one is left. If they stop, if they try to leave, if they are too injured to continue, they are shot dead. Ray has signed up to be in the walk. How far will he get? It's so bleak but so engaging 🖤

I‘m posting one book a day from my massive collection. No description, no reason for why I want to read it.

This was fantastic! A young teen meets her father for the first time when she goes to spend the summer with him in the brownstone he‘s renovating. They navigate language barriers and she feels like a major outsider in the neighborhood. Very sweet story.
I can see why this won the 2025 Printz! I LOVE this family! The artwork and text twist together in a completely organic way and I adore both. Almudena‘s summer living with her father and slowly expanding her friends and family is masterfully woven into the renovation of her father‘s brownstone. All of the characters are unique and have their own moments of growth on and off page. I love all of them.
I enjoyed it so much! It was a perfect way to start the year and provided a real eye-opener into the lives of people in Jamaica.
The book does an amazing job describing Jamaican life, food, scenery, and settings. And the food! It had me salivating, I could almost taste it all!
111/150 This is one of the weirder graphic novels I've read this year. Originally published in National Lampoon magazine, this is a spoof of children's comic strips. The art makes you think of Little Nemo or Little Orphan Annie, but the stories are definitely adult. Sex, drugs, nudity, perversions, violence and a dark sense of humor. Bonnie is 13 trying to understand what it means to be a teenager, as her body changes, and her much more ⬇️
