You must be strong enough to strike and strike and strike again without tiring. The first lesson is to make yourself that strong.
We eat bathed in the flickering light of the screen. Vivi‘s phone is silent on the coffee table. My mind is whirling.

I think I‘m back in Young-Adult fever. In 2018, I read The Cruel Prince & loved it, and then somehow I never continued the series. Over the last weekend, I read all 3 books (I spent ~6 hours on trains) and throughly enjoyed them.

5feet.of.fury It‘s true! And I always defend to other people about it: “it‘s still reading! We read to children so they can start practicing literacy!” But when it‘s me then I‘ll be like, “I read x # of books, well, some of them were audio books” I dunno whyyyy when I know it‘s the same. Im still learning or being entertained as I would if I was looking at it on a piece of paper! 2y
JoeMo I used to think this way until my life got so busy that now probably 90% of what I read is by audiobook. My brain is still processing info and I‘m engaged in really interesting stories and learning new and different things. I‘d love to have more free time and energy to sit down and read, and to do so without falling asleep, but audiobooks have been absolutely saved me! 2y
Susanita That drives me crazy! Of course it‘s still reading. You‘re using the same area of the brain to process the information. I‘m glad to have listened to (most of) the books I‘ve read this way. 2y

RowReads1 I agree it‘s not a lesser experience at all. There is a difference in how you process and retain it. I don‘t think there‘s anything wrong w point that out. 2y
AudiobookingWithLeah It still counts because you're still consuming the book. Whether you read it or listen to it. I tend to say the word listening or reading in my reviews because I want people to know that I did my “consuming“ via audiobook. 2y
