Completely an impulse buy because…black cat. There are a lot of books in this series too so I hope I like them

This was a charming YA heist of a group of all asexual friends!
While there are a lot of things I like about Las Vegas, the actual casinos are pretty low on the list. 🤣
#SundayFunday Hope you all have a great day and don‘t forget to tag me!
While the title suggests that this is a book merely about Elvis, this is actually a comprehensive history of Sin City itself. From its humble railroad beginnings to the entertainment capital of the world, author Richard Zoglin takes us through the story of this desert oasis. This is an in depth look at the entertainers that set the stage for a performer like Elvis, people like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis, Jr.
Desert Rose Book 2. The books starts out with a tragic revelation for Harmony. Harmony‘s sisters fly to Las Vegas to be with her and her 5 year old son, Eddie. The title serves as a double entendre..which I thought was interesting. A Road trip to NY ensues and all kinds of crazy happens in the midst of deep grief. I loved both books. McMurtry is highly readable and crafts a great yarn, he reminds of of Stephen King in that way.
The protagonist, Harmony, is a single mom showgirl working at the Stardust in Vegas. The characters in this book range from sweet (Harmony) to real creeps and everything in between. Book was written in 1983, the sequel, The Late Child, published 12 years later in 1995. Im picking up sequel bc I want to see how this plays out. #Vegas
Are you watching the big game today? Rooting for anyone or just in it for snacks and commercials? Since the game is here in Vegas, the entire city is psyched! I work at The Neon Museum and our signs were used for the cover of the Super Bowl program!!!
Here are a couple great reads about Sin City. Chronicles Of Old Las Vegas gives the history of Vegas from the beginning through present day, and Haunted Las Vegas is a spooky good time!
I listened to this one over audio, great narration. What a wild ride of a book. Amber Jamison can‘t believe her bad luck when she‘s abducted by a serial killer. She‘s rescued by a mysterious woman. After Amber leaves college to escape what happened she falls back into her old patterns. Her escape west has her meet a true crime Vegas group & her mysterious rescuer. A story full of twists & a quick, fun listen. #bookspin book
117/150 I remember trying to watch this in the theater, and walking out after the first half hour. Why this book is beloved is beyond me, it's a incomprehensible mess, a rambling, meandering story that goes no where. Is it trying to make a point, is there a moral here? Seems to be just two degenerate junkies on a spree. No thanks. 2 ⭐⭐
41st book finished for #RushathonExtended @DieAReader @GHABI4ROSES @Andrew65
Quick read at only 216 pages but enjoyable. I picked this up from my local library bc I was going to Vegas and wanted to read something set in Nevada. Protagonist loves hiking in Death Valley and stumbles upon a woman dying in a deserted region of the Mojave. Interesting ride from there. #California #Nevada
