Two innovative novellas… one written in headlines alone, one written as a series of lists, both about women who have recently been left broken-hearted and are coping with 21st century breakups. I found both really compelling…. My only reservation is that both formats somehow kept me at a distance, and felt a little cold. Really creative and unique though…. #weathertermintitle #booked2022 @Cinfhen @BarbaraTheBibliophage @alisiakae

Cinfhen This sounds fun!! Hooray for another #Booked2022 prompt 😄 2y

I can‘t write a review that would do this beautiful book justice. I‘ll add a favorite passage (one out so many) in the comments 🌊 📻 ❤️💔 🐌
This was my #doublespin. And I loved it more than I can really say. @TheAromaofBooks @BarbaraTheBibliophage @4thhouseontheleft
Counts for #booked2022 #weathertermintitle 😊😊

CBee “We all come into existence as a single cell, smaller than a speck of dust. Much smaller. Divide. Multiply. Add and subtract. Matter changes hands, atoms flow in and out, molecules pivot, proteins stitch together, mitochondria send out their oxidative dictates; we begin as a microscopic electrical swarm. The lungs the brain the heart.” (Cont‘d) 2y
CBee “Forty weeks later, six trillion cells get crushed in the vise of our mother‘s birth canal and we howl. Then the world starts in on us.” (edited) 2y
CBee @Cinfhen can I use this for #weathertermintitle? 2y

CBee @Cinfhen yay! Thanks 😊 I‘m still in a fog from this book, it was just incredible. I think Doerr is definitely a favorite author of mine (I also absolutely loved Cloud Cuckoo Land). 2y
Lynnsoprano One of my all time favorites. I need to read more Doerr. 2y
CBee @Lynnsoprano have you read Cloud Cuckoo Land? I read it last year and can‘t recommend it enough. (edited) 2y
TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!!! Lovely review! 2y
Allylu One of my favorites, too! 2y
CBee @Allylu I don‘t even know what to read now. Total book hangover! 2y
Allylu I want to read Four Seasons in Rome that he wrote while he was writing this. Haven‘t done it yet, but I want to. 2y
CBee @Allylu just stacked that one, it looks great! I might get it on audio 😊 2y

This was a great listen! The authors‘ share correspondence from a year late in her life. It‘s vulnerable and sweet. But there are also lovely tributes to life in Manhattan and the value of parental involvement. I also appreciated their discussion of how we look at life—whether planning for the worst or hoping for the rainbow.

Fifty Words for Snow | Nancy Campbell

Pickpick

I finished June‘s #BookSpin! I‘ve only been reading it for 6 months…

This is an absolutely beautiful book, but one to dip into rather than to read cover to cover. It takes (surprise!) 50 words for snow or related to snow from different languages around the world and recounts what it means, a myth, a piece of history, a tradition.. And of course each is accompanied by an archive photo of a snowflake.

Gorgeous slow reading! ❄️ ❄️ ❄️

Deblovestoread This sounds lovely. Stacked. 2y
rockpools @Kdgordon88 It really is! Definitely one to get in print, though. 2y

I enjoyed visiting once again Busman‘s Harbor, Maine, with this one! The fourth in the Maine Clambake series has an almost Christie vibe to the circumstances surrounding the murder. It was a super fast read and as wonderful as the others I have read so far in the series. I can almost taste and smell the salty air from the ocean…

22/22 Ooph this book. At about the half way point I stopped feeling seen and started feeling engrossed with the protagonists story. It was a brilliantly written, totally unexpected gut punch. I will need a cosy palate cleanser to recover from this one and I know it will take up residency in my brain. It was uncomfortable but that has not put me off seeking out further writing by this talented author. 4.5 ⭐️ #weathertermintitle #booked2022

Johanna414 Exactly how I felt about it! 3y
Magpiegem @Johanna414 there is something very satisfying about hearing someone else has had a similar experience to you with a book. I never feel like I do books justice with my reviews but I must have conveyed my feelings ok with this one. Thank you 😊 xx 3y
Tamra I‘ll give it try - stacked! 3y

Magpiegem @Cinfhen I‘ve just added it to my TBR. If I didn‘t have such a massive pile of books sitting at my house I would get it from the library 😂 xx (edited) 3y
Magpiegem @Cathythoughts @Tamra great! I‘m really looking forward to hearing what you think about it 😊 xxx 3y

Definitely slower than the first book, but still an enjoyable read. Although I am blaming this book for keeping me up late reading and contributing to my tiredness today. 🤣

2022 is the year I will read the entire Cemetary of Forgotten Books series. I remembered some details but not all, so I gave this one a listen to refresh my memory on the more secondary characters.

Still just as good, perhaps better the second time around.

#reviewcatchup

Virgil Wounded Horse is the resident vigilante on the reservation stepping in when the community is unable to prosecute and the federal government fails to take action. Then heroine shows up on the reservation and his nephew becomes entangled. I enjoyed this one even though I did see the ending coming. I hope we will get another Virgil book in the future. #Booked2022 #weathertermintitle

Reggie Just real quick I don‘t know if you can remember this book, but the coach is the one who put drugs in the boys locker at school. Am I right? 13mo
Bookzombie @Reggie I remember that being a setup and who the villain is in the end but I don‘t remember who planted the drugs. Sorry. (edited) 13mo
