BookmarkTavern This has been on my TBR forever! ❤️ 4mo
KateReadsYA @BookmarkTavern when I first started reading again years ago I bought this book and had such a hard time trying to understand it for some odd reason. But I'm so excited to pick it back up because I have a feeling I am going to LOVE it. I just remember it giving me the feeling like I was freezing cold. 4mo
Read4life I tried this once and put it down. I‘m ready to try it again. Thanks for hosting this @KateReadsYA 🤓 4mo

brittanyreads I'm not very far, maybe 20pgs. It's interesting so far. In full disclosure, I've tried Naomi Novik's writing before and we didn't click for some reason. This is my last chance with her so I hope it ends well! 😄🤞 What do you think? 5mo
KateReadsYA @BrittanyReads Right now, it's a DNF! I'm about 40 pages and I just don't care about the main character or her personality 🤭 what other book did you read by her? I want to read spinning silver but her writing style isn't my favorite 5mo
Read4life It‘s a DNF for me. I‘m just not connecting with the characters, the writing or the story. 5mo

KateReadsYA @Read4life I'm glad I'm not alone!! I ended up picking up the Cruel prince by Holly Black. What are you reading?? 5mo
brittanyreads I tried Uprooted but it was a DNF. It was mainly the writing and the characters were so weird. 5mo
Read4life I‘m reading The Secret of the Old Clock for #NancyDrewBR 5mo

Elizabeth stays in the background as the cousin then wife then victim in the story of Victor Frankenstein. This is her version of the story.

I wasn‘t expecting to be as engrossed in this as I was. White takes a background, flat character & gives her a depth & internal world that blew me away. And finally a retelling that treats Victor as the creepy incel he really is. I‘m a little torn on the ending, but overall I really loved this. 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌗

I was not expecting this to turn out to be one of my favorite retellings ever! I loved that this author added such amazing, cunning female characters to a story that had originally had none. Her author‘s note at the end sums it up perfectly! Elizabeth is brilliant, somewhat morally ambiguous, but she‘s a SURVIVOR, and I was inspired by her resilience in the face of so much abuse and loss. Loved it! 5/5 #whimsicalreads #bookclub

KateReadsYA Ooooo love that you added that about the authors note. I'll make sure to read it. I'm halfway done and loving it. 6mo
BooksNBowls @KateReadsYA can‘t wait to hear your thoughts on the ending! 6mo
