Sorry for the late #Booked2020 my friends! House renovations and prepping for maternity leave have warped my sense of time! But I realized I'm almost caught up again!

Also realized I covered a few from Fall already, so I'll have time to finish catching up before the end of the year! Yay!

This is the second book in the Ember In The Ashes series. It was a great follow up. I listened to the audio edition and the narrators were fantastic. I love this series 💙

I bought this book when it first came out and have been saving it for the right mood. Bri is a high schooler desperate to make it as a rapper so that she can help out her family. I may not have loved this with the same fervor I did The Hate U Give but I did really appreciate Bri‘s story and know that I will rush out to buy anything that Angie Thomas writes.

I enjoyed the first half, but was underwhelmed by the end. I wanted more explanation of the magic system and better pacing. I loved the relationship between the two main characters, as well as the timely aspects and allegories on racism and Black Lives Matter. I think this would have been better as a duology and I highly recommend the audiobook-the two narrators were excellent.

Enjoyed this was very fluffy at times but I do enjoy abit of romance and loved the layout of the book and the quotes throughout.

What can I say about this book that hasn‘t already been said? It was great, and I think Angie Thomas is going to be an auto-buy author for me.
