Enjoying this travelogue and it makes me happy to read about Friends and Chandler and I do realize what an influence Matthew Perry has had on minimal two generations. He won‘t be forgotten any time soon 💔❤️

Megabooks So sad. Glad you‘re enjoying the book. I did too! 5mo
TrishB I watched Friends from the beginning and then my kids watched. It was still funny, especially Chandler. We have a friends quote for most things. 5mo
BarbaraBB @TrishB Same for me and my kids. We still quote them so often! #pivot 🤣 5mo

BarbaraBB @Megabooks I remember you did and Cindy was annoyed by the father but I am really enjoying it, also because I did the exact same trip in South America. Now they have traveled to New Zealand and I‘ve never been there so this is new for me and enjoyable for that reason! #armchairtravel 5mo

BarbaraBB @Suet624 My all time favorite scene! 🛋️ (edited) 4mo
Suet624 By the way, my son has led trips in New Zealand for Backroads for years. If you ever want some special ideas of places to visit there, check in with me and I‘ll connect you two. 4mo
BarbaraBB @Suet624 Wow, thanks, I definitely will 💕 4mo

My second time travel book in less than 3 weeks!! That must please you @Centique 😜This was fine, nothing outstanding - Audio was less than 5 hours so a super short book - a pleasant pallet cleanser but nothing that will stay with me #BorrowNotBuy

Cinfhen The descriptions of the Amalfi Coast left me breathless!! #ArmChairTravel #Bliss #Paradise #Heaven 2y
Centique I‘m slowly converting you 😂😂 2y
Centique I‘ll get you to this one some day! 2y

I‘m armchair travelling in the NYPL, and it‘s letting me visualise ‘the painted ceiling of a cloudy sky..., the Edward Laning murals depicting the history of the written word..., the view of the balcony from the foyer..., and the stacks.‘
🤩
Historical fiction, mystery of missing books, set in and around a library, two timelines... I‘m really enjoying this book. #currentlyreading #armchairtravel #historicalfiction #NY

Image from Google.

Kristin_Reads When I read this novel I found the architectural digest tour of the NYPL on YouTube... it‘s great for armchair travel! 3y
BiblioLitten @Kristin_Reads Great! I‘ll check it out. Thanks 😊 3y

The The Round House | Louise Erdrich
post image
Pickpick

I loved this book. Understandably as Ive so far loved everything by Louise Erdrich. While this is a stand alone novel, it‘s set in the same community as other Erdrich books - so over time as you read them you pick up new facts, new insights, a layering of knowledge of these families. That is very appealing to me - but some people find it distracting.
TW - this book covers a rape and other crimes.⬇️

Centique What made this readable for me is that it‘s told from the perspective of the 13 year old son of the victim. While he sees his mother traumatised - he‘s not inside her head. This is really the story of a family going through trauma and grief and trying to recover and some of the support they get. It‘s an homage to good friends and family in that way.⬇️ 3y
Centique It also deals with the lack of justice for indigenous peoples, and the burden that places back on victims. 😭😭⬇️ 3y
Centique Lastly - background is a perfect summers day in the Bay of Islands for those of you needing some #armchairtravel 3y

KathyWheeler This is the only Erdrich book I‘ve ever read and I really liked it. I love that background pic; it‘s so beautiful! 3y
Ruthiella This book was a little too intense for me. I‘m so glad I read The Night Watchman last year (loved it) and found it humorous...not necessarily lighter, but broken up with humor. 3y
Lcsmcat I read this while I was in paralegal school, and I was fascinated by her use of jurisdiction to add to the plot - state, federal, or tribal. 3y
Megabooks Beautiful water! 3y
GingerAntics Oh, this one is on my list for this year! I‘m so glad you liked it. 3y
Cathythoughts Book sounds good 👍🏻 beautiful pic , luck you ❤️ 3y
CuriousG LOVED this book! I have several other Erdrich novels on my shelf now just waiting to be read 3y
readordierachel You make me want to pull this off my shelf and read it next. Lovely review and picture 3y
Gogobooks Excellent story! 3y
Nute I need to read this book because I was very excited about it when I purchased it. 3y
Centique @Nute it is so good! I loved seeing the world through this kids eyes. 3y

How‘s this for a reading spot @rockpools ? #armchairtravel as requested. I can hear the water lapping against the rocks as I read. (On the other hand I have been bitten by ants! 🥴)

wanderinglynn Gorgeous 💚 (except the bit about the ants—ouch!) 3y
LeahBergen Oh, that‘s lovely (even if you had to do a “leaping ant dance” 😆). 3y

Nute Wow! Are you in vacation or is this a close-to-home spot? Perfect for reading -ants excluded but the sound of lapping water...oooh! 3y
Centique @Nute this is summer vacation for us - it‘s the Bay of Islands which is about a 4 hour drive. Staying at a cottage on a friend‘s land. It was a lovely break - even though this photo looks a bit chilly, it was about 28 degrees (83 fahrenheit) every day 🌞🌞🌞 3y

If you want to read a #historicalfiction not connected to WW then here it is. It is set in the Oregon trail & I fell in love with that landscape. I learnt about different ethnicities, culture & about travelling. Even though it‘s a love story it has multiple facets of hope, friendship, trust, & dedication. It‘s a life turning travel, while finding home they find themselves. 4⭐️/5

I was pretty disappointed in this. The premise sounded awesome, but fell flat. The side characters were forgettable and I struggled to get through the second half.
