15 books? And the world is ending? You might as well just tell me that some much-needed reading glasses are broken 😜 @RaeLovesToRead (actual pic of me avoiding this dire thought) #ihavequestions #belovedbooks

Here‘s my list (with commentary!):
1. The Hobbit (⬆️THIS copy and yes I‘ll be mad if it gets scuffed or dinged)
2. The Complete Ivory - Egan (hey, series is contained into one book!)
3. Magic Strikes (the BEST Kate Daniels. Fight me.)
⬇️

Larkken 4. Starless Sea (good thing for the apocalypse that my MIL just gave me this)
5. Beauty - Robin McKinley (though maybe Blue Sword instead for the sheer nostalgia? gah)
6. The Wood Wife - Windling
7. Pride and Prejudice
8. Stardust - Gaiman
9. The Princess Bride - Goldman
10. Kushiel‘s Dart. No, wait, Avatar. Gah!
11. Complete Borges short stories (so I can dream of infinite libraries or something 👀)
12. Good Omens
(edited) 12mo
Larkken 13. Family‘s illustrated Alice and Wonderland
14. Finishing School trilogy by Carriger on audio (when breaking the rules, go big)
15. Moon Called - Briggs (I don‘t have a fav from this series, so this might end up being Whatever One I Grab from series)
Holy nuts I‘d give both my ovaries to have a compilation of the initial Murderbot stories to put on here. Sorry, Pride and Prejudice. Or maybe Good Omens?

I am still working on the #booklet list…
(edited) 12mo
RaeLovesToRead Love it! Starless sea has come up a few times... I shall purchase it next time I'm in Waterstones! 😁 (Although I still need to read The Night Circus!) I found the booket list easier because there are several books that I ABSOLUTELY NEED TO READ and they just pushed their way to the top.. 😊 12mo

Larkken @RaeLovesToRead This was curtailed severely by needing to be physical books present on my shelves! That made it easier lol 12mo
IndoorDame Ooh, yes! I should definitely take Alice 12mo
5feet.of.fury So far for best Kate Daniels (I‘m on book 7) I‘m going with 12mo
5feet.of.fury Also Kate Daniels series has made me want to read the Princess Bride, but I have not yet. Love your Gaiman choices! Great list! 12mo
Larkken @5feet.of.fury oooh is this the one where they FINALLY got together? Agreed, that IS nice 12mo
Larkken @IndoorDame looking at my shelves made me realize I‘d have to bring at least a/some books based on nostalgia and unwillingness to lose a family copy ❤️! …and not just on what I‘d want to reread…and reread…lol (edited) 12mo

Here‘s my cargo.
This was tough,I possibly cheated bc Ultimate Hitchhiker‘s guide is 5 books, but is physically in 1 book.
A lot of these books have an apocalypse? I don‘t know if the prompt put that into my mind, but this is more sci-fi/fantasy than my shelf would suggest, but once you know whodunnit mysteries are pretty much done. So 8 fantasy/sci-fi books, a travel book & whatever Song of Achilles is considered 🤣

RaeLovesToRead Ooh, I'm looking forward to The Girl with all the Gifts & also Song of Achilles! I love post apocalyptic and dystopian fiction too... this is giving me inspiration for next time #ihavequestions 🤔 12mo
IndoorDame Jemisin would be good to read as the apocalypse rolls in! 12mo
Larkken oooh, interesting choices from some of my go-to authors! Hope we get to hunker down in the same cave 😂 12mo

5feet.of.fury @RaeLovesToRead I honestly didn‘t expect Song of Achilles to be as good as it was. Just phenomenal. Girl with All the Gifts is really a unique perspective for a zombie apocalypse novel at a time when the zombie media was still rampant but had really seemed to be out of ideas. 12mo
5feet.of.fury @IndoorDame yes! world building & emotion in this series is stunning! The resilience of the character is a good fit for facing the end times. I haven‘t read much else of hers, I have read book 1 of the Dreamblood & City We Became has been on my list forever. I‘m going to try to work my way through more from her this year. What have you liked from Jemisin? 12mo
5feet.of.fury @Larkken haha awesome! 📚📚📚what are you bringing? 12mo
IndoorDame @5feet.of.fury I really loved The Inheritance Trilogy! It‘s more fantasy than sci fi, which isn‘t usually my thing, but as you say her work building is just stunning! 12mo
5feet.of.fury @IndoorDame Nice! I stuck that one on my #serieslove2023 list, hoping to get to it soon! 12mo
DaveGreen7777 Oooh, great book choices! 🤩 12mo
dylanisreading The Talisman is that good, huh? I'll have to give it another shot! 12mo
5feet.of.fury @dylanisreading it‘s allegedly being made into a series from the Duffer Brothers (Stranger Things) so it‘s a good time to get into it! I absolutely loved it. 12mo

@RaeLovesToRead has questions!!!

In this scenario, the world is ending, and one of my biggest regrets is… oh, no, I can only save 10 books! Sounds about right! 😂 I‘m sharing this for anyone who wants to play. My 10 books are about to be revealed in photographic fashion! 😁

#IHaveQuestions #BelovedBooks

RaeLovesToRead Ooh, can't wait 🍿🍿🍿 12mo
Branwen This prompt is giving me so much anxiety! 😂 12mo
RaeLovesToRead @Branwen I'm sorry!!! I'm a terrible Litten 🙈🙈 We can all hang out in the same shelter and do swapsies? 😁 While we work on our learning-how-to-use-nunchaku-for-the-apocalypse montage!!!! 12mo
Branwen @RaeLovesToRead Sounds like a good plan to me! 😀👍🏻 12mo

Did I just scrabble around my bedroom looking for books to load into a rucksack in a pretend apocalypse? (Perhaps)

Is that a Final Fantasy viii strategy guide? (Maybe)

Does anyone know where my Complete Poems of John Donne has gone? 🤨 (No?)

Why didn't I purchase the last two Fitz books BEFORE the apocalypse??? (Rae! 🧐)

Will I change my mind on these selections in 5 mins? (Almost definitely)

#ihavequestions #belovedbooks

IndoorDame Clever of you to take ALL the Agatha you can fit in that rucksack! Maybe she‘ll help keep this apocalypse from being totally depressing 😆 13mo
RaeLovesToRead @IndoorDame Pragmatic choices have been made... 🤣🤣 13mo

Branwen Nice choices! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 12mo
RaeLovesToRead @Branwen Why thank you! 😊😁 12mo
Larkken well I, for one, and assuming there will be tradesies in this apocalypse, and happy you‘re bringing the entire fitz series. just doing bks 2 and 3 would be depressing to the uninitiated lol 12mo
RaeLovesToRead @Larkken When I finished Assassin's Quest, I was like... whut?! 😐 But then I heard there were 5 more and I was 💃💃💃 12mo
Lizpixie I approve of your apocalypse packing and think we should meet up & compare notes👏👏👏 12mo
RaeLovesToRead @Lizpixie You are welcome in my apocalypse shelter!! 😊😁 12mo
