I first read ADOW not long after it was first published, and I hated it. At the time, I think it came on the heels of Twilight and way too much vampire-centric fiction. This time around, I enjoyed it much more, and am already almost finished with the second book.
This is why I rarely give 👎 reviews. My reaction to a book is sometimes more about my mood than the book itself.

It made me finally cross this amazing book off my TBR! I loved the slow pace of the schedule. (I only read ahead the last couple chapters because it was just so good) I loved the characters and the magical world of creatures. Such an interesting take on the normal witches and vampires. And of course I enjoyed the forbidden romance of Diana & Matthew. I'll definitely be reading the rest of the series.

This chapter is bittersweet & the first time I read it, I was teary-eyed when I saw the note Matthew leaves for Sarah & Em. Such a sweet gesture.

pickI am so glad I finally took the time to read this book! Many thanks to @MoonWitch94 for hosting #DOWRTR . I was captivated by the mixture of history and alchemy and witches and vampires and daemons. The story unfolded nicely, and I plan to continue to the next book, using the real time reading guidance by Harkness.
Diana and Matthew‘s stories are very intriguing, and I cannot wait to learn a bit more.
