The Graveyard Book | Neil Gaiman
post image

#photoadaynov16 #favouriteneilgaiman

I have only read two books by Neil Gaiman, The Graveyard Book, and Stardust.

This one was recommended to me by a friend, and I have loved it ever since! As my first Neil Gaiman The Graveyard Book holds a special place in my heart and library 😍💕

[DELETED] 1250735911 Yes! For some reason this books has remained the most affecting of all his works to date for me--you should definitely try out his other books though! He's fantastic 8y
Seshat I have the original hardcover and the graphic novel but I need to get the Chris Riddell edition, too! 8y
Bookworm54 @Rituleenreads I have Neverwhere on my tbr. I will get to it soon I hope! :) 8y

My #favouriteneilgaiman is the only one I've read! Had to reuse a photo as the book was a library copy. #photoadaynov16

Laura_Kaihoi I'm in the same boat! I read this a few times when I was a kid... nightmares for daaayz 😱 that's the mark of a good story teller! 8y
ScorpioBookDreams @Laura_Kaihoi it would have freaked me out if I'd read it when I was a kid 🙀🙀 8y
Laura_Kaihoi @ScorpioBookDreams yeah I'm not sure my mom knew what it was about, or else she probably wouldn't have let me read it! 😂 Rats with button eyes and deep shadows in a dark red room. That's what I remember from those dreams 😖 8y

Pickpick

I love Neil Gaiman's fiction but this is my favorite. It doesn't have to be read in one sitting. You can flip through and pick any piece to read. I chose to listen to it. However you read this, what comes thru is his love of books, reading, writing. He has a deep respect for teachers. He is thoughtful & funny & I loved hearing his words in his voice. I still hope to meet him in person someday.

Coraline | Neil Gaiman

#FavouriteNeilGaiman for #photoadaynov16
Coraline is the book that made me fall in love with Neil Gaiman, then I read Neverwhere and knew this man's writing was special. I also loved The Ocean At The End of The Lane. But I couldn't find the latter two books before leaving for work. Lol! Yes, I take books with me to work so I can take pictures of them. I just took this one outside my office building. It has a nice lawn. 😊

TieDyeDude Love his stuff! Trigger Warning was a great collection, and I recommend listening to the audio book version of Neverwhere 8y
Glaiza_echo I hope the American Gods adaptation is good. Coraline still creeps me out. 8y
read_diverse_books @AndrewK106 Audio sounds like a perfect way to reread Neverwhere. I'll definitely try it. 👍 8y
read_diverse_books @Glaiza_echo That's still happening! I had forgotten. Very excited 😃 8y

JulieAnn @Laura317 There are too many to pick a favorite but Vincent and the Doctor brought tears to my eyes at the end for sure! I thought Tony Curran was amazing as Van Gogh. The gift the Doctor gave him...sigh. 8y
Dragon Thanks @Lizpixie @Laura317 @Liatrek @JulieAnn such awesome episodes! Now I am going to have to dig through my DVDs (ancient technology) and watch some Doctor Who. Still waiting for the new season. 8y

I love most anything Neil Gaiman writes. And I love listening to him read. Or talk. About most anything. This is my #favouriteNeilGaiman. My 10 year old keeps it by his bed, along with The Graveyard Book, for those nights when it's hard to sleep. #photoadaynov16

Shoggoth's Old Peculiar | Neil Gaiman, Jouni Koponen
post image

I have only listened to Neil Gaiman's short story "Shoggoth's Old Peculiar" because...so...many...books! While I liked this story, his piece in The Guardian about libraries, reading, empathy, and imagination made me a fan. Re-reading it today was soothing and therapeutic.
