The asylum January is sent to seems to be inspired by the Brattleboro Retreat in Vermont. In 1887, patients built a lookout tower as part of their treatment, but later, many tragically jumped from the top. The tower was eventually sealed off, but eerie stories about it & the surrounding areas still persist.

November 4th #DayDevotedTo Candy 🍬 I'm not a Candy person, but I love butterscotch Candy as they don't stick to my teeth. It was invented in 1817. @Eggs @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks

A vivid, satisfying coming of age story about a gay, mixed-race English boy building his identity. I'm not a fan of novels “in verse“ that really aren't, but this was so readable I liked it anyway... and there are some excellent poems included.

PuddleJumper Sometimes it can really work and sometimes it's awkward. It worked well for this book I think 8mo

“ There‘s a society here of women who still think the name Hughes should be removed from Sylvia Plath‘s headstone—I‘m sure you‘ve heard about that, how they are always trying to etch it off the stone…

I had no clue about this very real controversy!

merelybookish I didn't know this but guess I'm not surprised. I know lots of Plath devotee LOATHE Ted Hughes. 3y
kspenmoll @merelybookish This had never occurred to me but I know about Ted Hughes reputation!!! 3y

I actually finished Camp Murderface before bed last night, but I had already made the graphic. 🙂

I hope to read Kill Creek pretty quickly as it‘s due back at the library soon and others are waiting for it.

vivastory Fun fact: I used to live in an apartment only a block away from where the group gathers in the library at the beginning of Kill Creek. 4y
Cinfhen That is a #FunFact @vivastory and as always awesome graphics, Margie 😍 4y

Finally synced up to the #BBBBC group read schedule. Now I just have to manage to finish this by the end of August. So far, it‘s pretty fascinating!

#funfact: I had a neurosurgeon with the same name as this book‘s translator, but I‘m fairly certain they aren‘t the same guy.

Happy Mean Girls Day! Did you know that Tina Fey adapted the concept for Mean Girls from Queen Bees and Wannabes? I'm so glad she did - it was ambitious and it paid off, this is still one of my favourite films of all time! #October #MeanGirls #Trivia #FunFact
