As I don't subscribe to any streaming service but still watch only classic, old-fashioned TV (that's bad enough, it steals more than enough time) I don't know about all the Netflix etc. series based on books.
There are many interesting ones out there, for sure, but then I've got better things to do with my life than watch TV.

⤵️

Yuki_Onna Continued:

Thus, I'm going with the 'classic' movies.
*the tagged - Japanese original please, not the US remake;
*a few adaptations of Rebecca (and its BBC miniseries) as well as the
*1998 BBC miniseries of Vanity Fair by Thackeray.
*The Stardust movie - Neil Gaiman
*The 1967 German adaptation of the Agatha Christie story Philomel Cottage
Oh, AND
*the German 1971 adaptation miniseries of Wilkie Collins's The Woman in White

she.hearts.horror @RaeLovesToRead I loved loved loved Stardust. I am thinking of revisiting this holiday season. I could use a ⭐️ and Claire Danes ( aka always Angela to me). 1y
RaeLovesToRead @she.hearts.horror I love the Rule the World song as well 🥰🥰 I've not read the book but everyone says the film is better 😊 1y
Yuki_Onna @RaeLovesToRead @she.hearts.horror Me too! Watched it three times in cinema back then, fond memories... 💖 Great casting in this one. Love the title song. And haven't read the book... 1y
RaeLovesToRead The only film I've ever seen in the cinema 3 times.... Love Actually 🙈🙈🙈 1y
Yuki_Onna @RaeLovesToRead I tell you something unforgivable - I've never seen Love Actually in its entirety yet... 😶‍🌫️ Though I love most of the cast and the parts I've seen.🤓 1y

There are a lot of great movies coming out in 2020, including several based on books. There are 9 adaptations that I am especially excited about and I want to talk about them with you! You can check out my latest video here: https://youtu.be/Ym9tgT9JNGQ

Scochrane26 They‘re doing a Secret Garden movie?!!! 4y
EadieB @Butterflyamore Definitely interested in Just Mercy as I read the book. Dolittle looks great and Wendy too. Secret Garden is a must. The Woman In The Window - I read that one and would like to see what they do with that. Just read that the rights were bought by Disney and the movie is being revamped by them. The Witches, News of the World and I know This Much is True would be good to see also. 4y

EadieB @Butterflyamore Just found other book to movies coming out in 2020 that I am interested in: The Turn of the Screw, Rebecca, Death on the Nile and another Agatha Christy book The Pale Horse. 9 Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty looks interesting too. Two by Stephen King, The Outsiders and The Stand. Little Fires Everywhere will have 8 episodes on HULU. Normal People by Sally Rooney. Call of the Wild and Brave New World. A lot of movies to see. 4y
abookishbutterfly @Scochrane26 Yep! There‘s a trailer out already. You can find it on YouTube. Colin Firth will be in it! 4y
abookishbutterfly @EadieB I wanted to talk about Rebecca, too, but I couldn‘t find enough information on the movie to include it in this video. Definitely interested in seeing it, though! There is a trailer out for The Woman in the Window and it looks great! 4y
EadieB @Butterflyamore I‘ll have to check it out! Thanks! 4y
Scochrane26 @Butterflyamore I can‘t remember if I saw any Secret Garden movies when I was a kid. I def want to see the new one. And I love Colin Firth. 4y
abookishbutterfly @Scochrane26 I remember seeing the TV movie but I can‘t remember if I saw the theatrical version from the ‘90s. Fun fact: Colin Firth was in the ‘87 TV version, too! 4y

Wowza! You guys, you have to see this movie if you haven't seen it yet ❤ I know I would have it enjoy it just as much if I wasn't a book worm but because I'm such a lover of books it had a bigger impact on me. It's about 2 hrs long but totally worth it. I can only imagine how much better is the book.

JoRead @Wife @BookaholicNatty I hope you like it! 6y
Wife @CoverToCoverGirl @BookaholicNatty @JoRead I think they did a very good job with the movie...some minor changes, but kept the spirit and emotion of the story. Cast members were spot on, in my opinion. ❤️ What do all of you think? 6y
Liatrek @Wife I agree I loved the casting the chemistry was amazing 😊 6y
Wife @liatrek such a feel good movie...All the characters were believable...Just such a special story. The movie enhanced my feelings about the book (I don‘t think that has ever happened before 🤔) 🌹 6y
bullbunny Good to know, will give it a shot! 6y

GarthRanzz Love the book but have avoided the movie so far. Just can‘t bring myself to go for some reason. 6y
ReadingEnvy I liked it but it doesn't follow the book entirely ... Still a lot of fun. 6y
Soubhiville It is different from the book, but I didn‘t think it detracted from the movie at all. I loved both. 6y

thegirlwiththelibrarybag I skipped the book and went straight for the movie... aside from a shocking underuse of Simon Pegg, I liked it ☺️ 6y
RadicalReader @BookBabe Icee will forever be incredible 6y
bell7 Oh hope you enjoy it! I'd read the book long before the movie so wasn't too clear about what was different, but I thought both were really fun rides. 6y
Bookladylinda Yea! I plan to read up and see the movie. 6y
jlondon1963 Loved both the book and audio version read by Will Wheaton and they did a great job with the movie. 6y
CrowCAH Watched it; never read. Enjoyed the movie! 6y
JamieLou I wanted to read it but was in a slump. We went and watched it anyways and I got so frustrated during the movie, I went and googled the plot summary in the hallway, wandered around and refilled sodas, before coming back the interesting ending. I just couldn‘t handle the pacing. 6y
Amanda.T I loved the book and I‘m looking forward to seeing the movie! 6y

Pickpick

I'm hoping this comfort read will break me out of the funk I've been in. A funk that's causing a slump. I hate slumps.
