Sisterhood of Sleuths | Jennifer Chambliss Bertman

Friendships can be complicated when you‘re 12 and school projects can be, too. Maizy learns both of these lessons as she discovers Nancy Drew and solves her own mystery with the help of old and new friends. This was cute and fun and I enjoyed watching Maizy work through some very 6th grade problems. It‘s a great homage to Nancy Drew. Also, Maizy‘s mom is a Toad the Wet Sprocket fan, so the book is a winner for that alone!

In today‘s episode of “bands I loved in high school that I NEVER expected to see referenced in a MG book published in 2022”, may I present Toad the Wet Sprocket? 😱😱😱😱 …and now I must go search for them on Tidal. 🎶

AlaMich 🙋‍♀️ I loved them too, although I was a bit older than high school age. 😬 15h

#nancydrewbr time! The pages of this one feel different than usual. They are very shiny! There are Chinese letters on the copyright page, although it does say it was printed in 1971.

Librarybelle Interesting! 2d

The Girl Sleuth | Bobbie Ann Mason

Pickpick

It's interesting that the Melanie Rehak book (which is great!) has almost the same title and is the same color as the original, 1975 edition of this Bobbie Ann Mason book. Mason's book covers lots of sleuths, not just Nancy, and has Mason's personal commentary. I love Bobbie Ann Mason and her thoughts on the Bobbseys, Cherry Ames, Trixie Belden, and others were entertaining. I think I'd like to try a Judy Bolton, but probably not a Vicki Barr.

4✨Nancy is on a cruise ship with her best friends. When she ends up with the wrong luggage what resembles her trunk, and a young girl that matches the initials of some men who were signing to each other she knows she‘s into another mystery on what was supposed to be a vacation. I really enjoyed this story to catch up to the #NancyDrewBR @Librarybelle Gandalf snuck into my picture this time #CatsofLitsy

3✨This was the last story in this series I have read. Nancy helps an elderly woman with pedigreed dogs that were stolen, and a mysterious tapping that could be in Morse code. Not a bad mystery, but I remember most of it from when I recently read it. Plus my one year old really seemed to like the pictures. 🥰 #NancyDrewBR @Librarybelle

Nancy and friends are on a sea voyage and discover smuggled jewels in a trunk. There were some interesting aspects to the plot but also a few crazily implausible events, like a meteor crashing nearby.

Librarybelle This one was not a favorite of mine either 2w
Ruthiella It wasn‘t so much that the meteor ☄️ was implausible but that it happens and they NEVER MENTION IT AGAIN! 🤣 2w
kwmg40 @Librarybelle That seems to be the general opinion. 2w
kwmg40 @Ruthiella IKR If a meteor landed that close to me, I'd be totally traumatized! 2w
