Another sweet story from Puerto Rico donated to my library. This one is about home sickness.

“ I wave to Mom where she waits on the porch, flash her a fistful of flowers, and the first smile she's seen since New York.“ I really like this quote because it shows Jayden's growth and appreciation for his new home.

This book is a really beautifully written. It would be really helpful in the classroom and out of the classroom. This book has theme of lo lines and beauty which can be seen with new students or new families that are trying to find their belongingness.

This book is about a little boy who is moving from New York City to New Mexico and really does not want to. He then starts to realize all the beauty surrounding him in his new home. This book uses watercolor and bright colors for it's illustrations.

This is a great beginning of the year book for students who are having a difficult time adjusting to a new classroom, or new school. The book encourages the reader to find beauty in what they have in front of them.

This poetry book is told in story format, following a young boy adjusting to his family moving to their new home in New Mexico. With beautiful imagery describing settings, the reader is able to feel and see the locations beyond the pictures on the page.

At a stopping point because I ran out of small boxes. Already filled 6 boxes and three crates 😬

And so commences the packing of my books. Bittersweet as my books will be packed away for a while, but excited to start moving into our first home. Planning on trashing these cheap Target shelves and investing in some nicer ones once we‘ve moved in and have a better idea of what space I can fill with shelves in our new place.

A great middle grade book about immigration and how some of our classmates can feel sitting next to us in a different country, in a different world. I may be partial but I love the way she shines the light on the librarian helping Lina find some good books to see herself in and helping her find her voice. LIBRARIANS ARE MY HEROES!
This is a story of family, friendship, identity, belonging, acceptance and the power of being finally SEEN and HEARD.
