This was the second in the series. It wasn‘t as good as the first. It is very light and amusing and slightly gross. The main character made many horrible choices.

The Ghost has been abducting teenagers from the magical community. When the guys investigate and find no leads they ask Tori for help. Dressed up as a mythic runaway Tori becomes the Ghosts‘ newest bait. But before the boys can capture him, she‘s taken. In the middle of nowhere, with no way for the guys to find her, Tori has to find her own way home.

Three Mages and a Margarita is a quick and easy read with plenty of action and comedy. Witnessing Tori hold her own amongst the magical community is a fun ride. And as she begins to form connections with the guild members, there is a definite theme of found family being established. I can‘t wait to see what is in store for Tori in the next novel.

This was a low pick for me.

I liked the premise, and I think it has potential, but it feels like a set up book for the others in the trilogy.
Girl finds out she is a supernatural, gathers a small (and also supernatural) gang, and love triangle is set up.
However while the MC wasn‘t terribly likeable, I think she is the most realistic teen I have read in YA for a while. Which is sort of refreshing 😂

Anyway I overall enjoyed this #Roll100 pick

I'm glad I found this series by fluke. It is a great distraction if you're looking for something different from all the other authors in your TBR pile.

I love when you get a book that delivers exactly what was promised. I wanted a good urban fantasy with a little more romance and a bit more magic and this book delivered and then some. I loved both characters and raced through this book. Now I am off to read the series this spun-off from (8 books!) - it does work as a standalone, but spoilers beware.

Both this and the Alice Worth series are in #KindleUnlimited

ARC from #netgalley

DogEaredBooks This is not the tagged book bc I couldn't add Mortal Heart to the database, but I really wanted to share about this book 1y

I took a chance on some sale audiobooks & listened to this one today. I really enjoyed it! A strong female paranormal who isn‘t angry/broken. Yes, she has some issues but nothing that gets in the way. My main issue was a plot hole that may have a reasonable explanation but the world building wasn‘t enough to explain it. But since I didn‘t have high expectations, it didn‘t bother me. It‘s a fun story & I‘ll definitely read the next one.

I am absolutely devouring the Twisted Luck series. It‘s perfect popcorn urban fantasy. It kind of feels like reading that one perfect fanfic from your favorite fandom. I mean it‘s very predictable what will happen but it‘s very comforting to find you were right about all the unsubtle foreshadowing.

Urban fantasy fans - if you aren‘t reading this author yet, you should be. He has several long series available (one I like more than the other). But these two more recent books are a great way to test him out. (On Kindle Unlimited if you have it.)

Great story of a skeptic journalist turned believer in an alternate version of NYC. Incorporates myths and literature!
