#WeeklyForecast 49/21
America is not the Heart is still in progress but I‘d picking up speed now and I have a lazy Sunday ahead to make some progress. I have also started Out of Africa dit #pop21 but also to make an early start with #ReadingAfrica22! And another #ToB22 book. Can‘t wait to start that one!
Not a bad week for my #bookreport. Three non-fiction audiobooks and I completed #readingasia2021, which I‘m still excited about. Slowly plugging away at The Gone World for #lmpbc. It feels way over my head and I‘m struggling to concentrate, but I HAVE to finish it and I have to finish it in print. 🥺 I‘ve also started #DrZ, but I‘m still on the intro by Pevear. Would it be wrong to skip that??
Taking a break from my #MusicalMemoirs for this #ProcrastinationBook6 / I‘m using this for #ReadingAsia2021 #Oman - I‘m still missing a few cities 🤫
I‘ve got to finish Singapore Noir today, and then it‘s off to tackle the November TBR, starting with an audiobook for #readingasia2021 and the books for both #lmpbc groups.
#weeklyforecast
Combined #bookreport and #weeklyforecast this week, as I started a lot of books, but only managed to finish one, The Promise, which I loved.
The Epstein book is really interesting, but 😡 of course. I‘m not sure about A Passage North, or The Fortune Men yet….
I‘m not loving the Bhutan book, which is my last one for #readingasia2021. I‘m even more sad now @BarbaraBB that yours got lost in the post. 😔
Reporters from the NYT look at Facebook‘s reach and policies, especially in regards to politics. The book focuses on Zuckerberg and Sandberg and how their personal interests and blind spots shaped Facebook. The authors discuss the effect FB had on the 2016 and 2020 US elections and how FB policies evolved because of them. As an example of FB‘s reach and danger in other countries, they look at ethnic cleansing of Muslims in #Myanmar.
Eek! I‘m reading too many books at once! I‘d narrowed my #weeklyforecast down to 4 titles, then remembered I need to start Wakenhyrst for a book club read. Eek!
3 on here for Reading Asia - it should (theoretically) be possible to finish The Gurkha‘s Daughter (Nepal) and The Private Life of Mrs Sharma (India) this week.
Have a great week, Litsy!
I haven‘t been doing too much reading but I did manage to read both my #BookSpin and #DoubleSpin @TheAromaofBooks
Enjoyed both but I only recommend Lost City if you‘re in need of #Oman #ReadingAsia21
#ReadingAsia21 #Oman #BookSpin Definitely on the dry side and at under 2 hours not very meaty. Interesting topic, a lost or mythical city that may have existed during Biblical times. The author uses both the Bible & Koran as textual references and sites modern day expeditions. Proof of evidence is still inconclusive but some evidence points to the deserts of Oman as the probable location.
