This is a great real life spy story and it‘s set in #Africa for those participating in #ReadingAfrica22 #NonFictionNovember

BarbaraBB I am always so intrigued by the Mossad! 4d
Cinfhen Right?!!! @BarbaraBB this was such a crazy covert operation!! Great story so far 4d
BarbaraBB It sounds great with that holiday resort! 4d
Maria514626 Another book stacked! Spy stories are my jam. 4d

Disclaimer- I only read part two of this travelogue which covers Paige & Jim‘s 16 months driving through Africa! The Roger‘s with little planning but a lot of hubris and apparently endless funds decide to drive through the entire continent of Africa. I was a little amazed how these two made it out alive, as they went places they had no business being & stumbled upon some dangerous scenarios. And who knew you could drive across Africa??

Librarybelle Great summary…it does make you think that they have endless funds for this journey 2w

I had a great reading week…despite the length of Bono‘s memoir😉I LOVED the essay collection by Wendi Aarons & enjoyed the anthology about food & feelings. Kelly Ripa‘s & Matthew Perry‘s memoirs were slightly disappointing but I‘m still glad I read them. McK was infuriating & Mrs. Rogers (review to come) was a great filler for #ReadingAfrica22 🥳 My #AAM choice (Velvet) was ok - but not sure I want to read more from this author.

TrishB A fab week 👍🏻 2w
Deblovestoread Excellent! 2w
squirrelbrain A great week! 2w

It‘s all #NonFictionNovember this week! I‘m almost done with the Kelly Ripa “memoir” - I love her but I‘m not really loving this collection as much. Two more books for #ReadingAfrica22 and two newly released celebrity memoirs. Started McKinsey last week, not sure how I feel yet but looking forward to reading more.

UwannaPublishme Looking forward to your reviews on these memoirs. They‘re all on my TBR! 3w
squirrelbrain I really want to read the Perry too… it‘s not on my digital libraries yet so I may use an Audible credit for it. 3w
TrishB The Bono one arrived yesterday- but it‘s for hubby for Christmas. I brought him a ticket to go and see him talk about it in a couple of weeks. Also for a Christmas present! 3w

Cinfhen Oh wow!!! That‘s such an AWESOME gift 💝 @TrishB 3w
Cinfhen I‘ll keep you posted @squirrelbrain @UwannaPublishme I just finished the Kelly Ripa - #BorrowNotBuy I think the Perry will be next 3w
Deblovestoread I was curious about the Ripa. Will head to Libby for it…. 3w
Cinfhen And you might want to #BorrowNotBuy the Matthew Perry memoir too. I admire his honesty and bravery but his book is a hot mess. It‘s not told chronologically and he seems to ramble and I‘m not sure he was in a healthy place when he wrote this @Deblovestoread (edited) 3w

Definitely more than I ever needed to know about the royals! Some parts were really difficult to get through ( Andrew & Jeffrey Epstein) and some parts I skimmed. The paparazzi are really vultures, being a royal kind of sucks, im not sure how I feel about Meghan, sorry for the loss of HM, I hope Charles can make his country proud, Diana‘s boys= national treasures & props to Camilla -she really stuck it out. And bonus #Lesotho #ReadingAfrica22

MaGoose I agree with everything you said. I would not want to be a royal or married to one, especially in the UK. Royals in other countries seem to be more low-key. 3w
Cinfhen Yeah that‘s definitely true @MaGoose you hardly ever hear about the other royals!! Last time I heard about Princess Stephanie of Monaco she was dating Rob Lowe 😁😂 (edited) 3w
Librarybelle Hooray for the bonus!! 3w

Cinfhen I know @Librarybelle 🤗🤗🤗 3w
Megabooks I just finally got on the list for the audiobook at the library. 3w
BarbaraBB I sincerely love your review, you almost make me want to read it but no, I am not that interested in them 3w
Cinfhen It was a lot more than I ever needed to know @BarbaraBB but it‘s entertaining @Megabooks who reads the audiobook?? 3w
BarbaraBB That made me laugh, “much more than I needed to know” 😂 3w
TrishB We know far too much just from the press, I would not want to read this. It‘s all outdated anyway and truly a bad obsession in this country. 3w
Megabooks I think Tina herself does. I‘ve got a 6 week wait on it so it probably won‘t come in time for NFNov. 3w

Finally finished this one today - and I must say Dipo Faloyin does exactly what he sets out to do….” breaking stereotypes of modern Africa” 🙌🏻❣️This book contains a lot of information mostly about how often African is pigeonholed into one common idea/place/ culture when it‘s SO much more. This was a bit drier than I expected but the knowledge and insight gained was well worth my time. And towards the very end I got #Mozambique 🙏🏻😁

BarbaraBB Glad it ended up being a pick! And yay for Mozambique! 4w
Librarybelle Awesome! I snagged an ARC of this one, and it‘s currently sitting on my pile of books on my dresser. I‘ll get to it one of these days! 4w
Daisey I‘m currently listening to this one as well, and at this point I think my review is going to be similar. 3w
Cinfhen I‘m glad to hear you feel similarly @Daisey 3w

Sometimes a graphic novel is really the best way to highlight a situation that is difficult to comprehend. This is the story of a West African man from #CoteDIvoire who is desperate to immigrate to Europe but he can‘t obtain a legal visa. So he does what so many Africans do, they attempt to enter the EU illegally. The simple prose and line drawings are harrowing and haunting. This book while short is very impactful. #Scribd #ReadingAfrica22

Librarybelle Completely agree about graphic novels and some subject matters! 1mo
Cinfhen I think I might go children‘s books / gn to complete the challenge if any are available- I only have a handful of countries to go @Librarybelle 1mo
Librarybelle I think that‘s a perfect idea!! 1mo
