I really liked the "prequel" to this, #thekindworthkilling but this one seemed to not quite hold together for me. You do need to have read the first book for full depth of understanding all the characters. It's another play on #strangersonatrain and interesting but I just couldn't really get into it. #klaus #catsoflitsy #petsoflitsy

#TheKindWorthKilling #PeterSwanson #BookSpinBingo

From the author of the acclaimed The Girl with a Clock for a Heart—hailed by the Washington Post as crime fiction‘s best first novel of 2014”—a devious tale of psychological suspense involving sex, deception, and an accidental encounter that leads to murder that is a modern reimagining of Patricia Highsmith‘s classic Strangers on a Train.

EadieB On a night flight from London to Boston, Ted Severson meets the stunning and mysterious Lily Kintner. Sharing one too many martinis, the strangers begin to play a game of truth, revealing very intimate details about themselves. Ted talks about his marriage that‘s going stale and his wife Miranda, who he‘s sure is cheating on him. 2y
EadieB Ted and his wife were a mismatch from the start—he the rich businessman, she the artistic free spirit—a contrast that once inflamed passion, but has now become a cliché. 2y
EadieB But their game turns a little darker when Ted jokes that he could kill Miranda for what she‘s done. Lily, without missing a beat, says calmly, “I‘d like to help.” After all, some people are the kind worth killing, like a lying, stinking, cheating spouse. . . . 2y

EadieB Back in Boston, Ted and Lily‘s twisted bond grows stronger as they begin to plot Miranda's demise. But there are a few things about Lily‘s past that she hasn‘t shared with Ted, namely her experience in the art and craft of murder, a journey that began in her very precocious youth. 2y
EadieB Suddenly these co-conspirators are embroiled in a chilling game of cat-and-mouse, one they both cannot survive . . . with a shrewd and very determined detective on their tail. 2y
EadieB This book is really good. They met in an airport bar and planned to murder his wife. It's a bit like the Stranger on the Train but so much more. You really need to read this book as I don't want to spoil it for you so that is all I am going to say. This is my first Peter Swanson book but won't be my last. 2y

Since I have a sleeping #Shadow on my lap and a passed out #Burley beside me guess I'll read. I'm starting #TheKindWorthKilling because @That-Bookish-Hiker picked it out of a stack of books to for me to read when I was being indecisive this weekend. 😆😆

What book are you reading today?

Lreads Burley's spots are so cute! I read a couple chapters in These Vicious Masks by Tarun Shanker today. 6y

My pick for #TwoFacedTuesday of #SpookyOctober 👻 is #TheKindWorthKilling by #PeterSwanson. There are plenty of two-faced characters in this book! It is a devious tale of #psychological #suspense so irresistible that it is often compared to #GoneGirl, #TheGirlontheTrain and #StrangersonaTrain. Two strangers meet at an airport bar. After a few drinks and a game of truth, they find themselves jokingly planning to commit #murder. But was it a joke?

bookloo This is so far my favorite thriller I‘ve read this year. 🖤 7y
TheLudicReader This was a ball to read. 7y
Jess7 I really enjoyed it too @bookloo and @TheLudicReader - part of the ending was a little hard for me to believe (specifically the part where the contractor completely flipped on Miranda instead of just going to the cops when Lily cornered him). I guess that speaks to the kind of pull Lily had though, but that part was just a little unbelievable for me. Still I loved the pace and the twists this one had! 7y
