Got another read off the list. This one was just ok for me. I‘d almost bailed on it a few times. The book was advertised as one thing but was something else entirely. I won‘t say more and risk ruining the twist for anyone who wants to experience it but it wasn‘t for me

Can‘t stop reading this. I‘m enjoying puzzling over what‘s happening in this very odd situation.
This is a great spooky season read! I had no idea where it was going and I‘ve never read anything quite like it. Best to go in without knowing too much, but do look up content warnings if you need to, cuz it‘s dark!
Venkman and Igor want me to lower the purple blanket- this is their electric blanket cave in cold weather, and I‘m letting in a draft. Sorry boys!
Thank you so much Amy @MommyOfTwo I can't wait to read the books. The candles smell so good and I love the mug. And I can't wait to delve into the treats 🤎

@Avanders @Chrissyreadit Thanks for hosting!
Wow, this was one crazy book! It‘s unlike anything I‘ve read. It immediately hooks you in with its story of a missing young girl. What unfolds though was not what I was expecting. This story is all sorts of messed up and crazy but then it slowly comes together in the end in a heart breaking way. I almost want to read it again as the details are so intricate that you almost get lost in what is going on. Definitely recommend!
I‘m in #SanDiego California for work and was able to go to this super cool local bookstore, Mysterious Galaxy.💫📚
They specialize in fantasy, sci-fi, YA, mystery, and horror. Awesome atmosphere and inventory, plus really great staff. They recommended the tagged book for those who like gothic haunting stories.
Oh, and you can‘t beat the views or the weather here. Wish I could stay longer!

I loved this! It was dark, disturbing and very atmospheric. I was completely hooked and the character work is excellent. I can understand this not being to everyone‘s taste, but I highly recommend to those who like weird horror. Also, the audiobook is excellent. 5⭐️
A remarkably written story that weaves together luscious prose with taut suspense. Read the afterword, too. While I always love reading authors notes, this one is important for the story.
I swear this has been the busiest October of my life!! I will keep going. hopefully, #TeamCryptKeepers had some heavy hitters this round. @LiseWorks #Sarathlon
I‘m in between pick and so-so on this only due to the beginning. At first it was a slow read then about a quarter or so in I couldn‘t put it down. Every time I thought I figured out which way the story would go it a different way. Beginning kind of bleh but then it‘s just wow for me. I love the main character development as well as the others. Definitely one you should check out. Olivia is fave material all the way ❤️🐈⬛
A missing child, a black cat & a scarred man lead the reader down a dark road with devastating twists! Creepy, unique & well- crafted. Don‘t miss this one, horror fans. #5stars #horror #darkthriller #plottwists
This book is all kinds of fucked up. Im loving it
This book lands squarely in the wtf category…up until the twist, which I had not been spoiled for. Ted, his sentient cat, Olivia, and his daughter, Lauren, live in a boarded up house on Needless St. Dee moves in next door because she is convinced Ted is responsible for her sister‘s abduction 11 years prior. I have never read a book quite like this one. It‘s a total page-turner.
Happy weekend reading, Littens! I‘m currently working on
1. The Last House on Needless Street by Catriona Ward and
2. Beauty Queens by Libby Bray
Very different, but both engaging! #WeekendReads
#TeamOlivia … not sure about the rest
Let‘s see if it lives upto the high praise. I did not like the first chapter but the second chapter narrated by the cat got me curious. 😽

Next up.
I abandoned the Audible version of this a couple of months ago but just discovered it on my Kindle too (ooops 😅🤦♀️).
This was a definite WTF read 😳😲
My mind is blown and I think this one will definitely stay with me 😱
Read for reading challenges.

I used to! I felt true shame to start a book and not finish it. It's how my habit of reading multiple books at once began.
My last bailed book was the tagged book. I had been so excited for it but there was animal stuff and I just didn't want to risk it getting worse.
I absolutely loved her writing even though I found parts very disturbing. Other parts broke my heart. One of the most unusual and intelligent thrillers I‘ve ever read. I will be thinking about this book for a long time.
Unpopular opinion. I didn't like this book and I can't say why without giving the whole thing away.
Just finished the audiobook, and all I can say is WOW! Ward really did a number on me. Fantastic read, and the narration was STELLAR. I can't really go into why without spoiling the book, so I'll stop there, except to say that Stephen King was 100% right.
This one has been on my TBR for awhile. Maybe next year!!! #scarathlondailyprompts #blackcat #teamslaughter
You ever see a book spend 80% of its page count undermining its own message?
It's the last week of spooky book reviews before Halloween hits early next week! The adult video highlights a few books by Catriona Ward! 📚 💙

Oh my, so different from what I was expecting, but this was pretty gd good (as Olivia the cat might say). I have a feeling that I‘ll be thinking about this for some time to come. Definitely agree with others that going in knowing as little as possible is best. Can‘t wait to hear what my IRL book club makes of this when we meet next week. Should be an interesting discussion!
So I see a lot of positive reviews and I'm a little lost. I went in blind and I'm glad I didn't see the hype b/c I would have been angry. Prepare to have a changing POV and for one of those to be a cat 😑 an annoying one, if audio.
Honestly this was way better in the last 1-2hrs. But the road getting there was just ...annoying and not scary or thrilling or suspenseful.
Whew! This was fantastic. I‘d seen lots of glowing reviews which, honestly, made me worried that I may be underwhelmed. But I loved it. It was everything I hoped it would be. Lots of twists, unreliable narrators, creepy house, creepy woods. I especially loved the [very spoilery] Afterward written by the author. If you‘ve been on the fence about reading this one, go ahead and give it a chance, and go in as blind as you can. 🌳🏠🐈⬛🌙

This was such a good book! Definitely a book where you won‘t guess the twist. Christopher Ragland does an excellent job with the narration!
#WondrousWednesday
1. It wasn‘t exactly 5 stars for me, but it was really good nonetheless.
2. The pic is a couple of adult geese and their goslings walking in my neighborhood.
I confess. I‘ve looked at this title a dozen times and only in my Litsy title search did I finally notice it‘s Needless” not “”Needles.” 😂
Book 107🎧 4.5⭐️
I don‘t want to say anything about this book, as to not ruin it. Go in blind - You will be mental assaulted. 🐈⬛
🧠🌱
This book was BONKERS! I went into this completely blind and I highly recommend it! The twists were unexpected but well worth the wait. The ending wrapped things up nicely.

1. So far, it‘s great! I didn‘t expect the twist and can‘t wait to see how it ends!
2. I‘m listening to the audiobook. The narrator is doing a great job!
3. I‘ll be kind and give it 4 stars. I‘ll see how the ending unfolds and change it accordingly once I finish.
4. I‘m not a marker of books. I just read the book and move on to the next one.

I didn‘t know a lot about The Last House on Needless Street when I went into it. I just knew that most people that read it loved it. And I think that‘s the best way to go into this one. I will say that it was a perfectly executed psychological thriller mixed with an unreliable narrator. And I absolutely loved it.

This book has left me without words. I‘m afraid even a little will give away too much so I‘ll add more in the comments👇. But know that this is way beyond just a horror story. I highly recommend going in blind.

This book is freaking me out so bad! Note to self: Beware of anything Stephen King calls a "nerve-shredder." ?

This book was ABSOLUTELY CRAZY! I read it in one feverish sitting last night because once I started I could not put it down! SO MANY TWISTS! 😲 I loved it!
I was planning on reading at least one Catriona Ward book during the fall when I usually do my spooky book marathon. But....they looked so inviting sitting together on the shelf at the library and I couldn't resist checking them out! Eeeep! I'm scared but excited! 🙈
This was one strange book. That is all I can say.
Creep fest with the strangest plot, unreliable narrators, & a whole host of WTF. The construction is brilliant. I was confused for a majority of the read, but the last 1/3 blew everything apart & made this book stellar. The characters are a jumble of screwed up & mostly unlikable, but also incredibly intriguing & damaged in a way that had me both totally turned off & not able to look away. Not a for everyone. Haunting & full of trigger warnings.
