Finally able to relax and read on this beautiful Sunday with a new read!
pick“He will never die. His love, his genius, the great beauty he has created will go on forever…” The best book I‘ve read this year. Heartbreaking and inspiring all in one. What hit me the most about this novel is that it‘s not just a biography of Van Gogh‘s life, but demonstrates the profound bond and love between two brothers.

panWhy I keep trying to read Fitzgerald, I will never understand. It‘s that idea that he‘s this classic author and I love classical fiction so I should be able to appreciate his work. It‘s not for me; I can‘t get passed his depiction of women. The only thing I can say is he knows how to paint a setting, I feel like I‘m actually there. Not a great start to #bookspin, so hopefully the next one is better 🤣
so-so⭐️⭐️⭐️It is a decent read, however I think I am over the story line. I think I will be taking a longer break from the series than normal.🤷🏻♀️

so-soMy #bookspin and first book of the year was..okay. The message was clear and very interesting, definitely thought provoking in instances. However, much of the book including some language used felt a little dated. To be fair, it was written quite some time ago. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ included in the picture is my new baby Bruce! I adopted him last weekend and he is such a sweet boy 😻

pickMy #officialbookspin for the month of July! I loved the concept of the Bingo challenge and will definitely try that again going into August (June/July has not been kind to me). As for this book, I thought the different narrator voices was interesting and it was pretty laugh out loud funny in some parts. The book itself was okay, still think Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close is Foer‘s best novel.
pickFrom the last 100 pages to the end I was doing nothing but crying. Amazing book, the idea of this type of narrator is something I‘ve never read before and it was definitely an interesting take. I couldn‘t stop reading it and at 2:30 in the morning, I finished it. Haunting..

I am embarrassed to say that I can‘t start the #pemberlittens S&S because I realized, on April 30th, that I owned EVERY SINGLE Jane Austen novel...except that one 🤦🏻♀️ So I am still waiting for the book to come in the mail. I am just dumbfounded that I own Mansfield Park, but not S&S 😂
so-soI am going to say right now, I am jaded. I have a hard time liking YA novels. I try! This is my second Green book and I do have to say I enjoyed it more than Paper Towns 👎🏻
It did get emotional for me at the end, due to just losing a friend to drunk driving. I saw him the night before he died and it was as if the universe gave us that moment to reconnect before he was gone. It‘s strange, we both talked about our own “Great Perhaps” that night.
pickI am really quite behind on my reviews/posts on here and there‘s no excuse for it. Since I only write in my journal the ones that I absolutely loved, I need to at least record the rest.
Not to say that I didn‘t enjoy this book! I really did; very interesting about the World‘s Fair and H. H. Holmes. To be honest I picked up the book because of Holmes, but I liked the parallels Larson drew between the two plot points.
So along with reading for the #PemberLittens book club and Reddit‘s book club, I will also be participating in #bookspinbonanza 🙈 Am I crazy? A little bit, but it‘s fine! I have not had this much fun reading and analyzing books since college. I am so happy to have found my old passion again.

So...wow! I just finished translating Truant‘s letter from his mother. It took a long time, but I feel very accomplished. I also noticed that some letters were capitalized when they should not have been. They also read out a message...Just wow!
I have to start writing notes to myself so I can keep all of the crazy footnotes straight! 😂
Meet my two new reading companions, Tom and Minerva! Finding these two love bugs was absolute fate, they both legitimately fell into my lap and haven‘t left since. 🥰

I have been sick on the couch with laryngitis for the past couple of days. The only things making it better are tea, soup, and one of my favorite books! Every few years I will pick this book back up and I‘m still amazed at how well written Scout is as a protagonist. I love books that have an “unreliable” narrator and Scout is just so humorous!
Today marks the first day of my 31 days of #GoosebumpsChallenge! Halloween has always been my favorite holiday and these books were a main part of my childhood. Pulling them all out of an old box and putting them on a shelf made me so nostalgic and excited for this challenge! First up: the absolute classic, Welcome to Dead House 💀
pickAfter reading everything written by Sylvia Plath and her journal, I thought I would read Ted Hughes‘s book of poems Birthday Letters, which mainly consists of stories of their relationship. It was interesting to see the other side of the affair and how her depression was interpreted by him.
The latest haul from the used section in the library!! All for $1....I may have a problem 🤷🏻♀️
Reading always helps calm me down when I‘m anxious and can‘t sleep. In these instances, I tend to go for poems or short stories.
Pausing my current book to read some scary stories. Honestly, I‘m just feeling a little nostalgic for one of my favorite childhood summertime reads.
