An interesting story overpowered by a man's tragedy and revenge, without any clear message but a waste of life.

Got the first glimpse of the Indian culture reading this song. Feel free to recommend something as good as this one.

MissHel How many recs are you looking for? I‘ll start with Firekeeper‘s Daughter, Braiding Sweetgrass, and The Great Vanishing Act. These are some really good (and popular!) steps into indigenous culture. But please, don‘t stop here! 2y
RayHallucinogen @MissHel I'll definitely give it a go. Thank you for the recommendations. 2y
AnnCrystal Way late to be posting a comment here, hope you don't mind.

This was amazingly good (I only saw the movie version based on this, I'm terrible, I know)...although, be aware that this is a historical fiction and should not be held at 100% for it's accuracy. It's heavy on stereotypes.

Just wanted to let you know (you probably already realize all this, my apologies).👇

AnnCrystal The “True“ story of Hiawatha, The Great Peacemaker, The First Clans Mother and their work to create the Haundenosaunee Confederacy (Iroquois or 5/Six Nations) is a far more fascinating story. (edited) 7mo
RayHallucinogen I've been reading a lot of James Fenimore Cooper lately and getting more interested in Mohicans, Iroquois, Pawnees, and Siouxes. Thank you for the helping tips. I'll look for some of those on the Internet. 7mo
AnnCrystal @RayHallucinogen My apologies, I wasn't notified that you responded here.

We really enjoy reading/watching American Indigenous stories/history. Hiawatha has become one of my favorites.

Although, native books and movies are difficult to find (my family doesn't mail-order anymore. In support of local business).

AnnCrystal @RayHallucinogen it's great that you're going to research some more.

I see that @MissHel recommended, Braiding Sweetgrass. I made posts about this book and just tagged you on one that you may find interesting??

Have a good weekend 📚☺️👍.

RayHallucinogen I appreciate it @AnnCrystal . That movie Killers of the Flower Moon is also worth watching depicting 1920s Oklahoma's Osage Nation. 6mo
AnnCrystal @RayHallucinogen Killers of the Flower Moon was truly good. Haven't found a DVD of the movie yet. I did read the book. Incredible storytelling. Written like a perfect fictional mystery...Horrifying that it was a true story. A Masterpiece in storytelling. (edited) 6mo

RayHallucinogen @Maggie_Reads the movie had a soul, and told the story beautifully. The book on the other hand, gave us this bigger picture that it wasn't only Chris's story. Way too many people left the society to find their tragic death in the wilderness. 2y

The world is ours, we are its lords, and ours it shall remain. As for the host of labor, it has been in the dirt since history began and it shall remain so long as I and mine and those that come after us have the power. There is the word. It is the king of words - Power. Not God, not Mammon, but Power. Pour it over your tongue till it tingles with it. Power. (1910. The USA)
