This was... intense. There were times that the book just kind of dragged on through plot and the overall plot took way too long to unfold with little to no action. And there were some parts that weren't quite Joe. However, as I listened to this via audiobook, I never get tired of the narrator's voice and he is very Joe-like. He definitely kept me interested.

Wow... I'm about halfway through and I have to say the sex scenes are more graphic, and Joe is much more... desperate and lost? It's hard to explain how without spoilers.

Love Colleen's Tiger's Curse series, and thought I might try this.
Didn't find the main female as relatable as Kelsey in TC, but the main male characters had me invested.
The main female is a dramaticized uptown girl, and very hard to relate to.
Overall, I love the story elements and setting.

There were points of the book that truly interested me. But for a horror/thriller novel, it took much too long to get to the climax despite being less than 200 pages.

Whoa... This book is definitely not for everybody. Constant f-bombs, graphic sex scenes, and generally sinister internal monologue.
But definitely elaborated on the Netflix series.

Watched the series on Netflix, but listening to the audiobook is 100000 times creepier. The level of cockiness and confidence the narrator has is eerie. Very accurate with the character setup.

I've been in such a reading slump lately, for a number of reasons: Work piling up, a horrible case of bronchitis, and generally just not being able to find time. But I got this on preorder, loved Setterfield's The Thirteenth Tale, and was able to get a couple chapters in today. Here's to hoping for the end of the slump!

TayMG @KrystleTheBookSlayer Yes! I have them all and have read them all. Some writers are admittedly better at putting Sam and Dean on paper, but the adventures are such great additions to the plot! Each one has its own spot in a season and between episodes! 6y
KrystleTheBookSlayer Which book in the series would you most recommend? 6y
TayMG @KrystleTheBookSlayer I've got two: one older and one newer. The older one is Nevermore. Has lots of Poe references that are great if you like any Poe. The newer one would probably have to be Fresh Meat. Very reminiscent of the Wendigo episode (a personal favorite of mine). But beyond my favoritism, the boys practically jump off the page and the storytelling takes you on s great rollercoaster ride. 6y

TayMG @BarbaraTheBibliophage Such a tough question!! I quite love the culture and reimagining of Beast by Donna Jo Napoli. It's a little more of a prequel for the Beast, and not quite the Disney beginning, but the story travels from India to France and includes a lot of detail about the cultures it approaches. 6y

Between Victor and Elizabeth and Justine and Henry and Adam... I am so sad that I'll never read this book for the first time again. The plot points and how they were carried out AND HOW THIS MATCHED UP TO THE CLASSIC. Perfect, just perfect. ❤

I loved the novelization of the movie. Heard the characters in my head, saw the actions vividly, and loved the expansion on the main characters.
That being said... not a fan of the sequel. Way too many puns, pop culture references, and a few plot points that seemed to fall flat. Just seemed a little too over the top for me.

Finished this one earlier this week... And I have a lot of thoughts. I LOVE this series as a whole. This book... didn't follow through for Thomas and Audrey Rose, in my opinion. I felt the characterization was too weak for them. But the plot was fantastic! Loved the setup! I'd love to talk about it, maybe below in the comments where people can avoid spoiler talk?
⚠ Spoilers below ⚠

TayMG I thought that Audrey was way too willing to "run away with the circus" and leave Thomas on the sidelines. After where we left off with Hunting Prince Dracula, I expected Thomas and Audrey Rose to be excited to be with each other and talking about all the possibilities... But Audrey hides so much from Thomas and is so willing to follow Mephistopheles... I just didn't interpret their relationship to ever be that unstable. 6y
TayMG But the plot! Oh, I love the setup. The ship and the circus and the performers themselves with their own mysteries. That kept me hooked in. And the lead in for the next book!!! Maybe H.H. Holmes? 6y

Constance and Mary Katherine and their Uncle Julian are all tucked away in their house, outsiders to their little town because of an incident that happened years ago... that changed their lives forever. I'm a huge fan of Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None, and while this novel was reminiscent of that... there wasn't enough of a shocking ending for me.
