It‘s a perfect day to start this tale of adventure & tragedy. A YA story told in verse.
This book will take awhile...
Why does the cover have to be so loud?? I‘m just trying to be a better mom to my daughters by reading this & boy, that subtitle is accurate
Folding laundry, wishing I could be reading
One of my rock stars! She is out promoting her latest book about Winston Churchill's younger years, Hero of the Empire. Can't wait to read it!
Starting this.
Finished this while my daughter rode into the sunset. Excellent writing & multilayered story. Some characters I wanted more from but all in all a great read!
Starting this. So far, it's superb!
Diwali desserts🎊 I was unable to sign in for two weeks😩
I'm not going to bother catching up on my reading in-between but I just finished this. It was good storytelling & engaging to read but it left me so unsatisfied that I have to just say So-So.
The kids were off school today so the trick to getting reading in is to invite friends & hang out at the park!
I had some conflicted feelings about this book. I felt some scenes were contrived to give yet one more instance of how ignorant white Americans are. But, all in all, I really liked it. I loved Adichie's writing & her characters.
Friends of the Library book sale finds. I swear the Bush book is for my M-I-L😜
Really loving this. Obinze is fast becoming a character to fall in love with😍
This is the cover of the Scholastic magazine--true & adorable😃Destiny is one of my favorite nonfiction books!
Reading among the horses & hay. ❤️ Picked this up after hearing him speak on Writers on Writing podcast.
Lunch at home alone with a good book. I'm not a big re-reader but I was happy to read this a 2nd time when it was chosen by my book club
Too much time passed from the 2nd in the trilogy to this last. I couldn't remember details that kept the characters close to my heart. Therefore, I was not as emotionally invested as I might have been. I also would have liked an ending that snapped shut rather than meandered as it did. (Virals will eat deer, as beautiful as they are, hence this photo:)
Having said all this, Cronin is still one of my rock stars!
My daughter's reserves came in. Do you see any that might not be appropriate for a 12 year old?
One of my rock stars😎. I waited a long time for this!
Sitting on a bench on a perfect summer day getting ready to delve into this that I just got thanks to stalking Writergal's home screen:)
My winter-themed book (I don't know how to tag funphotos😁
One of my favorite short stories of all time. A great steamy summer story to cool down to, especially when it's 95 degrees & the a/c quits😱
One of my favorite short stories of all time. A great steamy summer story to cool down to, especially when it's 90+ degrees & the a/c quits😩
What a tear-jerker😥 Shocking ending for adults, mercifully obscure for a 12-year old.
Kitty can keep it--it was too boring for me:(
Perfect storytelling! There is nothing I didn't like about this. (A close up of the book cover.)
I'm loving this book more than I thought I would❤️❤️. BTW, anyone want to give lessons in Litsy graphic design?😜 (I promise this quote gives nothing important away:)
#FunFridayPhoto My first adult book. I probably read every single Jean Plaidy book as a kid (and then again as an adult).
I read them when they were .75 trade paperbacks but they have been reissued with beautiful covers & a larger format.
I finally understand the lead up & causes of WWI as told in various points of view by Follett's amazing characters (it wasn't just about the assassination--the simplistic cause we were all given in school).
Way overstimulated & swooning in Waterstone's in Piccadilly Circus--Europe's largest bookstore. The YA & children's section was amazing. 👑Rival Queens was the ONE book I allowed myself to buy.
My favorite of the series. Spent the day at the Warner Bros. HP Studios outside of London. Awestruck😍
The library in Stratford-upon-Avon.
Books we're packing between the girls and I on our grand holiday!
If it makes you feel better... Nine books in a month is exceptional & only because I came across this trilogy that stopped time for me. Normally I am lucky to get 4 or 5 books read in a month!
Our breakfast book today☀️Such a sweet picture book. Inspirational for kids and adults alike.
I finished this in less than 24-heart-pounding-hours! It reminded me of We Were Liars in a small way (as in not knowing what I was reading & not knowing if I even liked what I was reading:)
Thanks for the recommendation, mauveandrosysky!
Now the kids are out of school it's hard to find quiet reading time but daddy took them out for a bit & I am going to take advantage! Starting this title but not sure what to expect.
That's a difficult task! Maybe the challenge should be to list what we DON'T like to read😉 Here are a couple shelves of my Medieval & Renaissance English history collection.
Blake Crouch does not stop! Holy cow!! Every book was amazing & the series end packed a wallop! I am going to go through some serious Wayward Pines withdrawal.
