I LOVED IT. A perfect, quick summer read.

A bit self-congratulatory, but who can blame a guy who is responsible for helping catch serial killers?

I‘m a big fan of W. Kumau Bell. I listened to this book over a few days, and it was really enjoyable. I wasn‘t expecting as much of a memoir/autobiography as it was, but it was entertaining and interesting. He has a more unique story and point of view than most comics who‘ve written books, and it was definitely worth the listen.

I picked this back up, after putting it down for a while, earlier this week. It didn‘t really suck me in until about halfway through. The main character was damaged, but in all the wrong ways. There were a few too many twists, which made the book drag on a little toward the end. In all: perfectly readable, but not life-changing.

This book was incredibly gripping for me. It is not often that I binge on a book like I did with this one. I started it on an airplane on Wednesday night and was done by Friday morning. I lost my mother to cancer in my 30s, but I still see so many parallels in my relationships with my parents, so it felt very personal. Definite trigger warnings for some difficult topics, but so worth the read.

This was a great before-bed read. I read an essay or two a night and made my way through the book over a few weeks. The collection featured a lot of stories that echoed my own experiences, so it really resonated with me. My knitting journey was and is closely tied to the loss of my mom, and it was so helpful to know that I am not alone in my experience.

I absolutely loved this book. The author's storytelling was remarkable. Even though there were some characters you wanted to spend more time with, I wasn't left wanting or wondering about any of them because it picked up in the future generations. These stories came together beautifully into a thought provoking and emotional narrative that has left me almost speechless.

I just finished the audiobook. The narrator's voice is gorgeous. It is a bit of a slow moving book, and I even took a break from it for several days. The end does suck you in, but you have to wait a while before you get to the good stuff.

This book had great twists and turns up until the end. The plot was unique and the characters pretty well-rounded. Definitely worth the read/listen!

I listened to the whole book in one day! If you're a fan of the movie, it is definitely worth the time reading/listening.

Wow! This was an amazing, poignant, and beautifully told story. The audio version was very well-done.

This ranks among the palatable celebrity memoirs. I totally sympathized with the awkward teenage moments, and I love that she's such an advocate for talking about mental health. Some of it was a little disconnected, but I enjoyed the listen.

I think I'd rate this between a pick and a so-so. I loved the multiple perspectives and the less-than-perfect depiction of life in America. Some of the plot elements bothered me and didn't seem to fit, and it seemed to go on longer than it needed to. But, overall, it was a worthwhile listen/read.

I've really enjoyed this series, and this book did not disappoint. Some great twists and turns made it hard to put down.

This series has definitely sucked me in. This one is not my favorite of the ones I've read, but it was quick and enjoyable.

This book needs to come with all of the trigger warnings. It was really hard to listen to certain parts. I wasn't quite sure what I'd gotten myself into, especially after the first half, but it was worth a read/listen.

By no means fine literature, but a definite page-turner. As someone who lives in the PNW, it is fun to read a detective series that is set here, too. This series of books is definitely a bit addictive.

I listened to this on audio. Trevor Noah has a beautiful voice, and like most other celebrity memoirs, I think this is the best way to enjoy this book. I appreciated the historical context he provided. It is funny and personal, and it's pretty much everything you want in a book written by a celebrity.

This book was a super quick read. The story read like my favorite crime TV shows, which is pretty perfect. Some of the twists and turns were predictable, but enjoyable, nonetheless.

I listened to this between a few long commutes. Leah Remini definitely has an interesting story to tell, so it is a celebrity memoir with some substance rather than just a bunch of anecdotes about a pretty normal upbringing. I didn't know much about Scientology before reading this, so it was also interesting for that reason too.

I'm speechless. Usually I can see where a story is going, but this one kept me guessing until the end. I didn't think I'd like the structure of the book (it is told in reverse over about 2 weeks), but the author made it work pretty seamlessly.

I wish I could just spend all day reading this book! It has totally sucked me in!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The vernacular took getting used to, but it really added to the story. The main character is flawed, but incredibly likable. It has all the elements that make a book a good read.

I love those moments in books that fill you with hope for the character and dread at the same time....

The best way to start the week and the month: choosing my Book of the Month book!

Wow. The themes explored in this book are quite timely, and it's very thought provoking. I enjoyed that the book takes place over a short timeframe and explores different perspectives. If you want a historically accurate book about the protests, however, I wouldn't go to this book as a resource. It is fiction, and it explores broader themes and the characters more than the specifics about the political reasons behind the protests.

As I do with most celebrity memoirs, I went in with low expectations and decided to listen to the audiobook. I was pleasantly surprised by Mindy Kaling's book; it was funny, smart, and not too long.

How is it that I just discovered the Overdrive app?! Library books are so much easier to browse now. And audiobooks are easier to listen to also 🙂

This book was pretty well-done. I liked that it wasn't a traditional celebrity, "look how great I am," memoir. Aziz's humor and voice came across clearly, though. It made me appreciate having met my husband before online dating took off too. Modern romance is complicated for sure...

Sometimes when I finish and audiobook, I feel like I'm cheating when I say that I've "read it." Does anyone else ever feel that way?

The is the first book by Gillian Flynn that I've read. It was definitely a page-turner. Some parts of the story were a little over-the-top, but it was quick and worth the read.

Why does it seem that all of my library holds come through at the same time? I have these two and one more!

This is a book I would recommend listening to over reading. I checked out the book from the library, and it was hard to make it past the first few chapters (it was, honestly, a bit whiny). It is much more enjoyable to listen to Amy Poehler read it, since the humor came across so much more clearly.
