0nce upon a time, there was a little old lady who was not afraid of anything! But one autumn night, while walking in the woods, the little old lady heard . . . CLOMP, CLOMP, SHAKE, SHAKE, CLAP, CLAP. And the little old lady who was not afraid of anything had the scare of her life!

Thought I‘d listen to some audios for #scarathlon while doing a puzzle today and found this cute Halloween story on Libby. We had done this as a story walk a few years ago, and it‘s still fun! 6pts for #teamslaughter for being directly related to Halloween and participation point.

Little old lady with long grey hair. @ephemeralwaltz

Tagged book is really cute. If you have little kids that like Halloween or spooky books, they‘d like it I think. I read it to my grandson a lot because he loves spooky stories.

ephemeralwaltz Oh gorgeous! You go🔥it's longer than I was picturing. 2y
Kaye Thank you @ephemeralwaltz 😊.. I was actually surprised it has a bit of curl in it. I never had enough hair before to tell. It was always like a pixie haircut. Everyone in my family used to joke about how short my hair was so I decided to show them I could grow it out. I actually walk right by people I‘ve known for years and they have no clue it‘s me..everyone knows me with the other hairdo. 2y
readordierachel Wow! How long did it take to grow out? 2y

Lcsmcat Beautiful! 2y
Kaye @ReadOrDieRachel It‘s been 2 years. I started with hair maybe an inch long ? REALLY short. I keep thinking its taking a long time to grow, but thought maybe it was afraid to come out, because it‘d just get chopped off again. 😁. Thank you @Lcsmcat 💕 2y
TheLibrarian @Kaye It did grow fast! I‘ve been growing mine out for over a year and it‘s not even to my shoulders yet. 2y
Kaye @TheLibrarian wow 😮, well, I‘m a newbie at this hair thing. It‘s weird needing to tie it back to brush your teeth, then hold it out of the way when you are eating or drinking , to have to spend such a long time combing it each morning. Before, I could have my hair washed, combed and dry within 10 minutes. Now it takes me longer than that to comb it out. Anyhow, yours will grow. It takes patience. 2y
Reviewsbylola Wow, you grew your hair that long in two years?!? Damn, my hair grows maybe an inch a year at this rate. 😂 2y
Kaye See, @Reviewsbylola ..I know nothing about growing long hair or how long it takes or even what to do with it now. I never needed to do much with my short hair. Wash it daily, comb it done. I‘m not much of a hair person as far as knowing how to do hairstyles and such. I usually just let it flap in the wind. 😊 (edited) 2y
TheLibrarian @Kaye I‘m trying to grow mine for my wedding so I can have an actual hairdo. After that I‘m chopping it all off again and it shall be glorious. 2y
Kaye @TheLibrarian is there a specific look or hairstyle you‘re wanting for your wedding ? And why do you want it long just for that day then you want it cut off again ? Do you like short hair better ? I had my chopped off hair in my wedding too. Never had long hair for any event. It was long enough to bobby pin my veil on so it didn‘t come off but that‘s it. What colors are you having? I Love talking about weddings. What‘s your dress look like ? (edited) 2y
IamIamIam That's awesome!!! It grows really fast! I grow mine long for about 2 and a half years and then cut enough to donate to Children With Hair Loss. I'll be donating to them for the 3rd time some time next year. 😊 2y
TheLibrarian @Kaye I want the front braided back and then the rest wavy. But I love having short hair. Normally it‘s a few inches on one side and saved short on the other and back. And the colors are black and plum for the wedding. My dress is a romantic style (so there is lace) and it has straps. Lots of details - I love it! 2y
Kaye It sounds beautiful. I hope you‘ll share photos. Those are unique colors. Are you dying your hair to match the colors ? And what type flowers will you use for those colors ? Gosh I love talking weddings. What about your cake 🎂 @TheLibrarian (edited) 2y
Kaye Thanks. 💕. @IamIamIam. What a wonderful charity to donate to. I‘ve heard of it before. I‘m sure you‘re making a big difference in lots of people‘s lives. 2y

This is one of my favorite children's fiction books! Being a music ed major, this book provides tons of opportunities to incorporate instruments into the story. I've done a lesson where kids play drums and shakers on certain parts of the book. Even read aloud as a story, it's great for Halloween! I found a link for the script where a teacher did readers theatre. ❤ http://www.timelessteacherstuff.com/readerstheater/LittleOldLady.pdf #UCFLAE3414sp17

DrSpalding This is a great book. In the fall I normally model an interactive read aloud. Your resource is another wonderful extension. 3y
AlanaA I love your idea of incorporating music into a read aloud activity! Just another way to keep kids engaged (: 3y
Maya.A Allowing the students to play instruments is a great way to get them involved in the story! This is a great way to open students up to their fears. 3y
DrSpalding Your storytelling! 3y
