Reading fablehaven for the first time since I was kid I love these books
I loved listening to Fablehaven! This book is a thrilling adventure through a magical world, full of mystical creatures and hidden secrets. The story is captivating, and the characters, especially siblings Seth and Kendra, are a delight. But a word of caution: the audiobook narrator could put a caffeinated squirrel to sleep! Best to stick with the written word for the full, magical experience. 📚✨
Anyone read the Fablehaven series?
Another day of subbing in random classes since we have a sub shortage… so far today I have done 8th grade Spanish and 12th grade history. And read 75 pages of my new book! 😂 #MiddleGradeMarch
I read books to suggest to my students. A sister and brother are dropped off at their grandparents secretive preserve that is surrounded by mystical creatures. Promising book #1 in this series.
Lots of double crossing in this one, geez! Seth was not as terrible in this one but still does not know how to follow rules. Kendra has all kinds of fun powers now. More characters like Tanu, Coulter, Vanessa, Sphinx, and Warren. It‘s interesting that Ruth and Stan are the caretakers of Fablehaven and yet they aren‘t able to do much to protect it or themselves or their grandchildren...
This is the second time I‘ve read this because I have now promised that I will read the rest of the series even though I can‘t stand Seth. I get extremely frustrated that Seth has no impulse control or sense of responsibility whatsoever. He is completely selfish. If I put that huge problem aside, Kendra (the rule follower and selfless sister) does save the day, and the world that is created is compelling.

Anyone read this set or anything from this author please? Just discovered these and wondering if I'd like? ❓❔❓ Thank you. Happy reading and weekend everyone 📚❤📖
Luna sits in silent judgment while I decide whether or not to commit to Mull‘s Fablehaven series.
Catching up on a few reviews: I think this is intended for younger readers but the adventure of it was still good. The writing wasn‘t the best but the plot and setting made up for it. I‘m continuing the #series now with the next book!
Fiction: The character that taught me the most is Kendra. She taught me the most because of her curiosity throughout the book. Even though she's smart, she still had inquiries and questions about her grandparents' house due to the weird things that were happening there. Kendra taught me to not be afraid of not knowing specific things. She made me realize that it is okay to have questions and not be embarrassed by the lack of knowledge you possess.
Fiction:Based on what I have read so far, Seth Sorenson (one of the main characters in the novel) taught me to be a risk-taker. He risked his life to go through the woods even though it was prohibited by his grandpa. His journey through the woods has been nothing but fun and adventurous. He discovered things in the woods that were peculiar such as the “large square of ivy“ he stumbled upon. I want to explore things that would require taking risks.

Fiction:The connection between this book and my life is the personality of Seth Sorenson. Seth is very curious like me. He took the risk to go through the forest which was forbidden according to his grandpa. I wouldn't do something as risky as the decision he made just because of my curiosity. If I were in his shoes, I wouldn't go through the forest because I know the consequences I'd have to face after my grandpa finds out about it.
Exploring a new series thanks to a friend.
I love that my almost 9yo loves to read. But I love it even more that this was a book I had to convince him to read. I had left it lying around, hoping he would pick it up himself. I read aloud the 1st few pages to the 6yo, hoping it would pique his brother‘s interest. Finally I said, try the 1st three chapters ok? That‘s your homework for this afternoon. And he couldn‘t put it down. Today, he‘s reading it again.
Have you ever heard about “Fableheaven”? Well, they are books that have a very interesting story, and they are great. In my opinion, yo should read them if you like magic and I really recommend them💞💞 What do you guys think about them?
I am in love with this series!
This first book starts out a bit slowly but then breaks into a full gallop. It is engaging, and fun, with a good dose of seriousness. Brandon Mull combines real life with fantasy in a way that makes me question my own grandparents farm
This is my son‘s favorite author and series. He‘d been bugging me to read it so finally I said I would if he read The Hazelwood, which he had been resisting and still hasn‘t finished. I really enjoyed this story. Mull is a good writer and the adventures and fantasy in the book are well done. I can see why my son enjoys it so much. Now he‘s bugging me to read the next in the series! I definitely recommend for middle grade fantasy readers. ❤️
Ugh.
I liked the action, but what I didn‘t like was much longer: fat shaming, ageism, and, yes, racism. Europeans who “save” the indigenous people, people of color referred to as “exotic.”
Also, one character always making all the bad decisions is boring. The impetuous boy and perfect girl trope 😖
I had to read this one for #oregonbattleofthebooks2020 but usually I would have put it down instead of finishing it. On to better books.
Time to enjoy the hot tub at the facilitators‘ retreat facility where I‘m spending the weekend.
Change of pace for pedi time 💅🏼
Stoop sittin‘ with grapefruit Prosecco and a completely frivolous read. Ahhhhhhhh 😎🌞🌷 #bookandabeverage #summerlovin
I also found these Fablehaven series Book #1-4! I have adored this series that was given to me awhile ago by @Madamereginald So now every time I see them in the thrift store for 50 cents a piece I grab them because I love to give them to people so they can experience the adventure that lies inside!!! When I find books I love, I tend to start giving them as gifts to others. It‘s hard to contain my excitement sometimes! ❤️📚
⭐️⭐️⭐️
I didn‘t feel especially engaged in the first half of this book. The second half was more exciting & adventurous, which improved my overall opinion.
The premise is definitely intriguing & I think a younger version of myself would have enjoyed this a lot more. I liked the author‘s descriptive language and the fact that he created an unlikely hero. I was, however, often annoyed by the main characters & felt some of the dialogue was cheesy.
Finished this book today. It‘s been a while since I read a new YA/middle grade book (not sure which this is considered?) and enjoyed it so thoroughly. I love me some fairy tale-based stories, so I plan to read the rest of the series!
This book is great so far! I started reading it as per request of my friend, and I don‘t regret it. The only thing I don‘t like is that the book is in third person POV. The book is basically about these two siblings who stay with their grandpa while their parents are on a cruise. The longer the kids stay there the stranger things get... 13/10 I would recommend!
Smart people learn from their mistakes. But the real sharp ones learn from the mistakes of others.
I also snagged these at the thrift store today too!!!! I was soooo happy. @Madamereginald You have created a monster! 😂😂😂So glad you sent the first book to me, I‘m loving it!!!!
They're all cuddled in to hear another couple chapters of Fablehaven!
I love finding little details like this one tucked away at the back of a book 💜 I have loved revisiting this series!
Cute read. Definitely reading the rest of the series.
Jax opened his #secretsantakids gifts today. Thank you so much @JaylasMamae !!
He's trying the #everyflavorbeans right now. 😂😂
Looking forward to reading these books!
I was reading Wintersong by S. Jae Jones and I ended up hating it (sorry!!) anyways I picked up this gem instead and it's feeling much better for me!!😊🍂
This is just one bookshelf in my bedroom(the shortest), complete with Doctor Who legos, fairy pictures, and a glass slipper that belonged to my great-grandma. #shelfie #aprilbookshowers
I keep recommending these to people lately so I decided to dive into them again! Except this time I'm listening to the audio books on Audible. Other than some character voices being a bit too whispery for my taste, I'm really enjoying the audio version. Love this series!
My daughter is loaning her younger brother some books from her own library to read. Don't you love it? The Alchemyst series is mine but her tbr list is too long and his is too short so we are divvying them up for now. Let's not even talk about the Amazon order that arrived today with all the books I ordered for his birthday thanks to all of your recommendations. I'll take photos when it's "safe" before I wrap them.
I read this along with my 11 yr old, Jack. He started it, then said to me "I NEED TO TALK TO SOMEONE ABOUT THIS STORY! WILL YOU READ IT WITH ME PLEASSSEEE?" #bestillmyheart
Super fun story! Fablehaven is a preserve for the conservation of magical beings, but things get a little crazy. Jack said this is now his favorite book. I adored it.
My copy is on the left, his is on the right. Ongoing discussion at my house over which cover is the coolest.
Up in the middle of the night reading #middlegrade fantasy ✌🏻
