Started off well, completely bored me to death in the middle and then had a decent ending.
Hopefully my next book of 2022 will be better 😆

This is such a good book, which I was not expecting, so pleasantly surprised. Definitely stick to it the whole way through. I did get STRONG Madeline McCann vibes though, so not the most original storyline
When wealthy developer Sean Jackson dies, his estranged daughter Mila reconnects with old family friends and long lost relatives, all haunted by the disappearance of Coco, one of Sean's twin 3-year-old daughters, nearly a decade before. This twisty thriller was highly readable, but full of reprehensible behavior by adults who should be focused on the children in their care. Also: fans of neatly resolved endings may not be happy.
I didn't like this one quite as much as her other two. A stellar plot, but I didn't like the format as much, even though it worked well for this story. This author does not shy away from getting her hands dirty with some nasty secrets! Marwood is a true mistress of suspense.
Read in one sitting, a real page-turner, ideal holiday reading. Have recommended this often.
DUDE. Perfectly paced and creepy as hell with enough twists to keep even the savviest reader engaged. I did guess as to who the “big bad†of sorts would be but watching it all play our was still really fun in the darkest way. #24in48
Almost done with this one but the eyes are getting tired. Nap time with the beastie, then plan to get to at least 12 hours after dinner. #24in48
Next up for #24in48 - a recommendation from Stephen King himself!
I am failing miserably with #deweysreadathon , thanks to adulting. But, while running errands, I had to visit my favorite independent bookstore for #independentbookstoreday . They had sales galore and a make your own bookmark table. I snagged the tagged book from the Blind Date with a Book display. And, of course more Agatha Christie for the #agathachristieclub .
And, look at the tiny Poe book. I think I‘m in love. â¤ï¸
What did happen to 3 year old Coco who disappears in the night on a family vacation? This book had me guessing right until the very last chapter. Totally drawn into both the plot and characters. Would make a brilliant book club read as there‘s so much to discuss!

I almost bailed on this after an hour of listening to the audiobook. Checked Litsy reviews and decided to hang in. I‘m glad I did. This is a story of lies, secrets, personality disorders, and snobby rich people. In the end, important lessons about family are realized. For the audio, it‘s important to pay attention to the switches between past and present. ðŸðŸ“šðŸŽƒðŸ‚
Riktigt bra! Spännande och intelligent upplagd. Rekommenderas!
I really enjoyed this book. I didn't expect it to have quite as many twists as it did.
Got up and sort of went audiobook crazy this morning. After all I need books to listen to at work!📚📚😀âï¸ðŸ“–ðŸ‘ðŸ‘â¤ï¸
Well that's annoying! Nothing resolved and several different stories told to several different people to cover everyone's *ss. I think I may actually be a little pissed off. I hate hate it when someone gets away with something in a book. Especially something as heinous as killing a child! Aarrgghh!
And this is why you never let other people talk you into doing something you feel is wrong!!
I found this book hard to get into at first as it felt a bit slow but it quickly picked up and I found myself racing to the finish. I didn't see the twist coming at the end and thought it was all very intriguing. I was all over the place and couldn't work out what was going on. Lots of lies, lots of secrets and it was just a very unique read. Liked it but not my favourite book ever.
Finally on the last 70 pages of this brilliant book! But how will it all end?? #reading #currentlyreading #thriller
this book is confusing. you really need to pay attention to what time frame you are reading in. so far it is good though.
I am currently reading this and I am absolutely loving it. It switches from past to present and I am definitely curious to see what happens next! I love just sitting in coffee shops and reading. ^.^
I really enjoyed this book. I have liked each one if Alex Marwood's books more than the last. The plot if this book moved quickly and I enjoyed that the chapters alternated between the past and the present.
I wasn't crazy about the author's second book, but I heard such great things about The Darkest Secret, I decided to give it a chance and I'm so glad that I did. The book moved slowly at the beginning, but once it got going, I couldn't put it down. Twice in the last 50 pages my jaw actually dropped. I'll be reading her next, for sure.
Although it took me a little while to get the hang of it, moving between when the little girl vanishes, the lead up to it and the aftermath.....I found it gripping! And the ending.....I kept on thinking about the others who had died in the book and how.....
Fancied a thriller for a change! Reading this one in advance of a writing workshop on plot. The great and the good of crime fiction have lined up to provide quotable quotes on the back cover. Very gripping so far!
Next up: something for me. Oh, and also for work, right @librariankris ? 😋 whadoyouthink?
Today's book mail, with birthday gifts from friends that came over for lunch, and the first of the Pioneer Woman items I ordered (spoonulas)
Not sure I agree with this - every Prime Minister we've had, male or female, is held personally responsible by the public for the decisions they make. When Tony Blair left office he was called a War Criminal, amongst many other horrible insults. Right or wrong, Maggie was a controversial leader and that had little to do with her gender and more to do with her actions.
Ever read a book and just felt like you needed to go have a shower afterwards because you felt dirty? This book is doing that. Just want to sit in a dark room and forget how disgusting mankind can be.
If you're looking for a creepy British mystery, Alex Marwood has you covered. Out today!
Sooo excited about this! The weekend cannot come soon enough! 📚✨â¤ï¸
