Running Blind | Lee Child
Jack Reacher searches for an elusive killer responsible for the deaths of a number of women, who have nothing in common but the fact that they once worked for the military and had known Jack, and races against time to find a murderer who leaves no trace evidence at the scene of the crime. Reissue.

I enjoyed the first 3 Reacher novels but this one strains credulity to breaking point. Braless long-legged FBI agents? C'mon. And I'm not even going to get into the absurd plot. Hopefully this was just a temporary blip.

CaramelLunacy Seems terribly impractical... 2y
TuesdayReviews It was Reacher more than once describing her as looking like a teenager, and how clear it was he found that attractive, that really threw me off (especially given how old Jodi was when they met). 7mo

I feel like these are getting worse with each instalment. That murder method? Really? And the murderer turns out to be exactly who you expect from like minute 45... except that it‘s even more idiotic than you‘d suspect possible. And the focus on gender roles and sexism WHILE being heavily sexist throuhhout?! Oh man, i hope my mom won‘t ask me to download the next one, cause I‘ll probably listen to it too...

Kappadeemom It‘s the same book every time. Jack walks somewhere, stirs up trouble, throws away his clothes, hangs out at some military base, solves a crime (and how does he happen to fall into every single town‘s crime racket?) and then walks away 😛🤷‍♀️ 4y
Heideschrampf @Kappadeemom which i‘d be fine with, if he‘d not grow more shallow with each book, more predictable and the crimes more absurd! I mean, i don‘t expect tolstoi... but why did the writing style from the first change so much to the worse? 4y

Ugh, I really dont like it when Jack Reacher has more than a one night stand with a woman but im not going to down star it because he did kind of cheat on her so that kind of makes up for it (smiles).

As usual Jack speaks to my soul, his avoidance of commitment, his desire to never own anything or be bogged down with stuff. My favourite nomad.

5 stars as usual!

Overall: ⭐⭐⭐
Lee Child does a fantastic job of weaving little threads from start until the explosive climax. His twists, reveals, and layers are top notch. A thrilling, exciting ride.
Drawbacks:
- The resolution was thrilling but border line improbable.
- Women who swear off men inevitably end up romantically involved w/Reacher. Why? Because.

Today's #agameoffavorites was a hard pick, not only for genre, but also author. I went with mystery though, since it's one of my favorite genres. Lee Child's Jack Reacher series is always fun. Running Blind is probably my favorite from the series. Child has a few favorite books, including Casino Royal! I too love James Bond!

madamereadsalot1 @Guildedearlobe I'm cracking up! I can't tell if your being facetious or if the quote didn't paste right. 😂 Either way, it's hilarious! 6y

madamereadsalot1 @Guildedearlobe ha! Understood! Every now and then, I'll get in the mood for what I refer to as a dude book, and he fills that need. I do enjoy quite a bit of junk food for the brain. 6y

Maybe my favorite Jack Reacher novel so far. Very twisty turny and I had it figured out at one point, but then the twists convinced me I was wrong. Ready to get the next one from Dad's bookshelf.

MrBook Ahhh! I have all these in this format too 😁👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻! #KindredSpirits 7y
SandyW I've read a lot of Kabul Teacher novels and enjoyed them in the past, but ever since they cast Tom Cruise (not muy favorite actor), I have a much more difficult time reading this character. 7y
SandyW Kabul Teacher was supposed to be Jack Reacher (new phone, please excuse) 7y
Beckys_Books @SandyW That's a hilarious autocorrect! Totally agree on Tom Cruise. 7y
