"Eloise is content with her solitary life as a successful private chef. She has her clients, her corgi, and a recipe for the world's most perfect chocolate cream pie. What more could she need? But when her favorite teacher dies and her long lost trio of high school friends reunites at the wake, Eloise is confronted by how lonely she really is. In honor of Mrs. O'Connor, Eloise, Lynne, and Teresa revamp their senior class assignment and dare each other to create a bucket list of things to accomplish by the time they each turn forty in May. Together, they choose new goals for each other. Control freak Lynne has to get a dog; Teresa has to spice up her marriage with pole dancing classes; and Eloise has to enter the dreaded world of dating. Enter Shawn, a hunky ex-athlete and the first man that Eloise could see herself falling for. Suddenly forty doesn't seem so lonely--until a chance encounter reveals that Shawn's ex is actually Lynne! Will the bucket listers make it to forty still as friends? Or do some friendships come with an expiration date?"--

#MarchMunchies #risotto Is there risotto in this book? I don't know as I can't seem to get it off of my #TBR stack & read but Stacey Ballis writes good foodie fiction, so maybe!?I chose the book for the match to my bowl of risotto. It's already bookish risotto as I listened to "I'll Be Gone in the Dark" while I stirred last night. This is Ina Garten's Easy Parmesan Risotto except I made it stovetop instead of oven as I like the zen of stirring!?

rubyslippersreads That looks so yummy! 😊 6y
Pamwurtzler Love that risotto! 6y
DebinHawaii It will be on the blog later today. Kismet that my food blogging group's theme is Ina in Italy this week so risotto fits right in. 😋 6y

Why is it that so often these books are about women who have these lives that sound just magical to me - but they are closed-off unhappy spinsters underneath? Do I just really want to be a closed-off unhappy spinster and I don‘t realize it? 🤷🏼‍♀️

minkyb Good to ask the question! 6y
mcipher @minkyb I think it‘s just the wanting what we don‘t have thing - I have never lived alone, just went from my parents‘ house to being married and having a kid. So living alone sounds so amazing sometimes! 6y

Days 16 & 17 #FallIntoBooks #ListLovers #DifficultWomen Catching up on photo challenges over my favorite home version of avocado toast with spicy garlic aioli & a few chapters of this foodie book. It features 3 high school friends reunited on the cusp of turning 40 & each making lists of things they want to accomplish before they get there. I'm not classifying these women as 'difficult'-but friendships often get that way as we grow & grow apart.

#TBRtemptation post 7! Recently released. Eloise is a successful private chef with a corgi & perfect chocolate cream pie recipe. She reunites with her high school friends & finds she's not fully satisfied. They challenge each other to accomplish a task before they soon turn 40. Her task is to date again. Enter ex-athlete Shawn. As romance buds, her friends reveal their true natures. Will their friendship make it to 40? #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎

Snow I love that it has a built-in holding spot 😉 7y

Because of my neverending quest to make room in my office, and because woooo it's the weekend, it's time for a GIVEAWAY! Here's how to enter: make a NEW post about what you're reading right now. Then tag me in the photo, and use the hashtag #WEEKENDGIVEAWAY. Do this by 9pm EST, Sunday, August 6, and I'll pick one random Litten and mail them all these books. (US only, sorry.) Good luck! 🎉

Day3 #AndItsAugust #forfontssake Although I haven't read these books from my #TBR stack (except for The Manchurian Candidate) the different fonts on the spines--from cursive and detailed to stark and simple, seem to capture the mood, subject and the story inside of each book. I don't buy books for font's sake but I appreciate the beauty of a good font choice. 👍📚

ApoptyGina69 Looking good! I've read 4 of those, but not Voracious. Adding to my #MountTBR! 7y
AWahle Voracious is high on my TBR, but the library just informed me a hold has come in so it will have to wait. 7y
Texreader I don't choose books by the font either, but I've been known to pass up a book because of a terrible font choice. 😉 7y

Jinjer I love the font on the spine of the Kazuo book! 7y
BethFishReads A good font catches the eye 7y
ChantelMcCray I always appreciate a book more if it has a beautiful font & cover. 7y
readinginthedark I love Voracious! And Lost in Austen is pretty fun...I always keep track of what choices I've made and where it led me...Yeah, I'm a nerd. 7y
