Fallen
Fallen | David Baldacci
David Baldacci returns with the next blockbuster thriller in his #1 New York Times bestselling Memory Man series featuring detective Amos Decker--the man who can forget nothing. Amos Decker and his journalist friend Alex Jamison are visiting the home of Alex's sister in Barronville, a small town in western Pennsylvania that has been hit hard economically. When Decker is out on the rear deck of the house talking with Alex's niece, a precocious eight-year-old, he notices flickering lights and then a spark of flame in the window of the house across the way. When he goes to investigate he finds two dead bodies inside and it's not clear how either man died. But this is only the tip of the iceberg. There's something going on in Barronville that might be the canary in the coal mine for the rest of the country. Faced with a stonewalling local police force, and roadblocks put up by unseen forces, Decker and Jamison must pull out all the stops to solve the case. And even Decker's infallible memory may not be enough to save them.

🎧 another Memory Man Book. There are a couple strange repetitive moments but it‘s another good book if you like Amos Decker & Alex Jamison!! A vacation at his partner‘s sister‘s house turns into double digit murder!! Worth a read! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

4 stars. The Memory man is back for number four in the series. Ultimately this will be a #readalsoin2020 and will fade from my memory. When looking for a photo of a small town, I found a gem.

Decker & Jamieson arrive for vacation with her family. However, some strange things happen in the house beyond their backyard that don‘t add up despite the storm and Decker & Jamieson fund themselves embroiled in a multi murder case that just might be tied into drugs & other weird goings on in the town.

Grabbed this from the library. I love Amos Decker! He‘s the Memory Man!!

I also grabbed the audio from the library so I can listen while I do some work in my house. We‘re moving into the house four houses down from where we currently live (😂) next month so there‘s lots of pre-packing stuff going on right now. Perfect time for audiobooking!!

An odd setup for a thriller, but I enjoyed the setting in a sleepy town that has had its day. I just hope the next holiday Amos Decker has is a bit more relaxing!

Crazeedi This is not right! 6y
Librarybelle Thank you for sharing this! When I talk to my patrons about this, they are astounded...it‘s definitely not widely known. 6y
KathyWheeler Looking at this I thought the prices for the ebook must be wrong then I realized what I was seeing was the pricing for libraries. Yes, that‘s typical. I‘ve paid a difference of hundreds of dollars before for my library when we needed the digital version. It‘s a rip-off. Publishers claim it‘s justified because of how many uses it can potentially have, but that‘s a lame argument. (edited) 6y
KathyWheeler @Librarybelle I actually discussed this in a presentation for our faculty; they were shocked. 6y
Librarybelle @KathyWheeler I train the staff on technology for my library system, and even the staff initially have no idea about the cost discrepancies. Having these discussions have better informed them when an angry person is standing in front of them demanding the latest book from their favorite author, which costs the library 87.00. It‘s amazing! 6y
KathyWheeler @Librarybelle I know! When I did staff training on using our ebook interfaces, I talked about this with our staff. For some reason, I‘d assumed they knew but they didn‘t and were appalled. 6y
SassenachTheBookWizard @KathyWheeler and @Librarybelle I also do eResource training and we had hoopla for like 5 years before we finally just got rid of it! AND NONE OF THEM KNEW IT WAS A PAY PER USE MODEL! 6y
Librarybelle @SassenachTheBookWizard It took a lot training to get the staff more fluent in all of the terms. We have Freegal, so it took some time for a few of the staff to understand that patrons can keep downloaded music for free, and it does not cost the patron anything. Admittedly, some of the staff at that time never heard of iTunes, so it was a very different concept for them! 6y
Johanna414 I regularly have teachers who come into my library and ask me to find a way to get each of their students an ebook version of whatever title they‘re reading in class - for free... most recently it was The Hate U Give. He was more than a little taken aback when I explained that one copy would cost me about $75.00. “Are you sure you can‘t find me something for free?” 6y

Fast paced story with lots of characters. Deals with the opioid crisis in America today. Sad to know that probably a lot of what was written is true of the characters. Not my favorite of the series but I do believe and enjoy that there are law enforcement out there that are like him in wanting to right the wrongs done to innocent people.

Another excellent book in the Amos Decker Series, my favourite Baldacci series. Amos is away on vacation but cannot avoid becoming involved in investigating what appears complex & separate murder cases in Baronsville. This hooked me from the beginning, but there was a part in the middle which was not as engaging as at this point he was working alone without Jamison, this relationship is a key strength of the series. A very strong ending.

I like the Amos Decker series by this author. I found this book to be good, well written but it did drag a bit. Had some good twists and turns. Kept me guessing for the most part. Did introduce his partners family and a town in the midst of an opioid epidemic. Dirty cops, insurance fraud, murder and a search for hidden money. I would have liked it more had I not still been hung up on Rabbit Cake.

Intricately plotted, fast-paced, & timely, #TheFallen, the 4th installment in the #AmosDecker #MemoryMan series, is also entertaining & compelling. #DavidBaldacci's latest adventure for #AmosDecker & #AlexJamison also gives readers a deeper look at Decker's psyche. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Finished this up this morning and a great book. Amos Decker is a most unlikely hero but he gets the job done. Are several murders in a small town coincidence or a huge conspiracy? It‘s a wild ride before you find out the answer.

4th book in Amos Decker series. Decker and Jamison are visiting Jamison‘s sister in Baronville PA and soon become involved with serial killers. Drugs, hidden treasure from the historic Baron family are the reason for murder. I love how Decker was so sensitive with Jamison‘s niece, Zoe, after her father becomes a victim. Decker has a talented mind which helps him in crime solving but is his memory starting to fail him? Read this book to find out.

Andrew65 I can‘t wait to get to this one, I love this series and just gets better and better. 7y

(#4 in Memory Man series, but 👍 stand-alone)

Amos and Alex are visiting Alex's sister in a small town in PA called, Baronville. When Amos is on the deck talking to Alex's niece, he notices flickering lights and then a spark of flame in the window of the house across the way. When he goes to investigate, he finds two dead bodies inside, but it's not clear how either man died. There just might be something sinister going on in Baronville...

jbhops I started having a moment here when I saw this. "Wait... What? New Decker book? When did this happen?!?" Google helped me. ? 7y
HiddenGemBooks @jbhops oh you bet! He‘s coming back in 2018! Coming in full swing. Haha. 7y
