I never could say no to secondhand books. And when the seller says all the proceeds will go to a good cause? Well...

I'm a sucker for girls pretending to be boys and gaining power so I expected to like this and I did. Eon/a was a compelling narrator despite her faulty memories of the time before she was a candidate and you really wanted her to succeed. I liked that there was so much great disability and trans representation as well. The only damper is that at the end there is a kind of ableist thing that happens but overall I still enjoyed this a lot.

Anyone read Eon? I adore Alison Goodman's Dark Days Series, so thought I'd give this a try. So far it's VERY different than what I'm used to from her.

Loved it! Although Eon(a) can be a bit thick at times. Also, I kinda think Lord Ido is hot. Boo Hiss I know, but I always love a good bad guy.

I was drawn to the cover of Eon by Alison Goodman and after reading the synopsis, I was intrigued. I mean swords, dragons, magic, dangerous secrets and heroes!
I wasn't disappointed in reading the book either. I love the amazing world building this author creates. I have no trouble envisioning the dragons, picturing the characters and feeling the action.

Loved this book so much!!! Dragons and hidden gender and even a transsexual as one of my fave side characters.

Pulling one up from the archives just so I can post about one of my favorite recent reads. I knew five pages in that I was going to love this one, and it did not disappoint. If you are a fan of historical fantasy or like books with influences from ancient Asian cultures, get this book and read it. Now. Do not wait. It is hands down the best book I've read since finishing the final volume of The Wheel of Time (that was in 2013).

I keep changing my mind about my current book club read. I'll get so bored I'll decide to DNF (perfectly acceptable in the club), and then it'll pick up again. I think I'm more interested in the characters than the training, so I get bogged down in those sections. I'm going to be participating in the @24in48 readathon in a few hours--I definitely won't have time to read the full 24, but I'll do as much as I can. These are what's next in the queue.

A very original fantasy set in a world that is a mix of ancient China & Japan. A female character trying to make her way in a male dominated world, with the help of a few interesting friends. I couldn't put this one down & immediately ordered the sequel.

Have you read EON and EONA? I won't lie, I have two major issues with EON, one which involves a troubling trope. But this series, set in a world with powerful energy dragons inspired by ancient Japan, China, is still one of my favorite historical fantasies. Strong women, including a transgender one.
