My cat decided to move when I took this photo 😂

I grabbed this on a whim at the library as I love all books about introverts. It‘s old (2002) but still had some good info. It reminded me I need to get myself out there and out of my comfort zone more. Something I had actually planned to do before Covid so I actually find I‘m excited for the day when I can finally do those things I planned

Just started the tagged book last night. I love introvert books 😂

1. Dentist and hair cut are both scheduled for the same day!
2. Watching TV shows with my best friend over the weekend. She lives in Chicago so it‘s a long distance thing where we chat through google‘s hangout app while watching but it‘s so fun! Kept us both sane this last year with all the Covid restrictions

@Cupcake12 #motivationalmonday

Cupcake12 @TheDaysGoBy A very practical week ahead for you then. What tv shows did you watch? My girls love American shows such as Glee and Gilmour Girls -nothing like them in the UK 😔 4y
TheDaysGoBy @Cupcake12 We‘ve been getting each other into shows we‘ve enjoyed separately and not all our shows have the same number of episodes. So my choice was Once Upon a Time (which we‘re still watching) and her first choice was Fringe. But since we finished that, we‘re on White Collar now. It‘s been loads of fun! 4y
Cupcake12 @thedaygoesby My husband loves Once Upon a Time, I‘ve just started watching Heartland x 4y
Deblovestoread Love Once Upon a Time. Maybe I should rewatch this year. 4y

⭐️⭐️⭐️ — I give this three stars because it started out extremely well. I found out more about my own introversion and quirks I have that are actually common introvert traits. But when it started going into how to manage being an introvert, that half of the book just wasn‘t for me. A lot of those tips I‘ve figured out long ago, but it may be helpful for those that have not!

Meeting a friend for coffee/dinner and am the first one to arrive and am so glad we picked B&N to meet at so I don‘t have to awkwardly stand around and wait for her to get here and have books to entertain me! #introvert

Riveted_Reader_Melissa Love it! But if that was me, she might not find me by the time she showed up! LOL 6y

Quick work at home breakfast of homemade Strawberry-Peach Chia Seed Jam on English muffins spread w/2 fresh nut butters I got to try-walnut & pecan. The pecan butter is awesome, the walnut one has less flavor (both are just ground nuts) but perks up w/the jam & a bit of sea salt. Should probably show my computer as I'm still madly working on a deadline but I was looking up a chapter on introverts at work I want to reference in a workshop.😋🍴📚

LauraBrook I really liked this one! And that jam sounds amazing. 7y
KimM Loved this book. Sounds like a cliche but it really did change my life. I'm reading Quiet now. 7y

Introverted doesn't mean lonely.

jessdean Ohmygosh. This is me to a "T"‼️As I've gotten older it's gotten more uncomfortable to be around big crowds of people. Was just talking about that with my best friend. 8y

Some of this was informative, like "Oh, that's me" kind of informative. Other parts seemed to generalize and be kind of condescending.

Spent the evening with friends and favorite former coworkers having pau hana drinks and pupus.
Time spent genuinely enjoying socializing and catching up = 1.5 hours. Time spent thinking about being home in pajamas with tea and a book = 4 hours. Time it will take to replenish energy and recharge batteries from overstimulation of external world = probably the rest of the weekend. Ah, the joys of being an introvert! 😬 #happyreadanebookday

StellaDz Quiet is also another great read about introverts. Taught me a lot about myself and how I react to outside stimulus. As I was reading it, I was thinking, 'it's all finally making sense!!' 8y

GlitteryOtters @StellaDz ahh, I loved Quiet, too! It was the first time I really felt that made me feel like I wasn't broken or damaged or wrong for being an introvert (and that it could have some really unique advantages). Being married to an extrovert & having an extrovert for a father, I had spent most of my life being told I needed to change/that I was wrong for being introverted, but I get otherwise. That book was vindication I needed to feel secure. 8y
Bookworm83 I'm right there with you! 8y
StellaDz @GlitteryOtters I felt the same way! A lot of my friends are extroverted so I would always feel bad about cancelling because I wasn't up to it, but Quiet helped me understand why I'd be mentally and physically exhausted after one hangout while everyone else seemed to keep going. 8y
StellaDz @GlitteryOtters my boss is also introverted and after a sick day, I was explaining how I felt, and he was like, 'you had an introvert hangover.' I've now been given permission to actually call in with that excuse LOL 8y
DebinHawaii @BethFishReads @Shemac77 @Bookworm83 @StellaDz @GlitteryOtters I knew my fellow Littens would get me! 😀❤️ I need to check out Quiet too. A big part of my work is public speaking and facilitating and some people don't get that while I can turn it on and it enjoy it at the time, I need self-time recovery to replenish my energy. I love the 'introvert hangover' --describes it exactly! 👍 8y
Shemac77 I'm a paramedic and have to speak in front of people all the time. My days off consist of doing my best to not speak to anyone. And it's true how we can turn it on and off. 8y

The main antidote to shame is self-esteem. Tell yourself that you are not flawed. Nothing is wrong with you. Your brains works in another way.
