I listened to the audiobook narrated by Cheryl herself, which is a definite plus...makes it so authentic. It really moved me and made me think hard about some issues in my life. I don‘t very often rate a book 5 🌟 but this definitely deserves them

I am giving this a pick, because it offers a lot of ideas to break the consumption habit (I‘m not a kindle fan though, I will always have lots of physical books!). It‘s not preachy like a lot of other books of a similar vein, and doesn‘t just denounce all forms of capitalism. Although, I did find the narrator kind of annoying, and when quoting his accents were not great.

I made a little trip to the library before going away and discovered Quick Reads, mostly short, 100 page ish novels, written for the purpose of encouraging reading for newbies or those that have lost their mojo (like me!) and they definitely did their job, I read 3 of them and now have moved on to this...

Great so far, a page turner for sure 😁

I kind of lost my reading mojo over the last couple of months...I‘m determined to get it back this week while on holiday. I‘ve brought 5 books with me in hope ☀️🇪🇸 📚 👙

I‘m a bit late to the mfm/litsy challenge, but I‘ll do my best to catch up!
This book is truly one of the most heartbreaking stories. Written by Milly‘s sister, it tells a lovely portrait of a teenage girl, and the devastation that is left by her murder.

This was an audiobook and worth mentioning that the narrator did a fantastic job.

1. Winter (mainly due to hay fever and being more comfortable covered up!)
2. Fiction to read, Non-fiction for audiobooks

Starting this before we watch the film. Both of my children have read it, so I need to catch up!!

I can‘t really say I ‘enjoyed‘ this. But I will recommend it because of its social importance. It is truly horrific and devastating, and although fiction, the truth is within it.
I found it difficult to read at times, I don‘t think the writing flowed, and I found myself drifting off, or having to reread to fully understand.
But It has given me a greater sense of the generational effects of slavery and the suffering.

Started this yesterday. Wow. Just wow.

This book surprised me in the best possible way. I absolutely LOVED it. Beautifully written, loveable characters and heartbreaking.

Although this book could have been at least half as long as it is, the last 300 pages had me gripped. But, having said that, the length adds to the themes of It, childhood, forgotten memories.
My favourite aspect are the children. Great characters. The reason I read this now was after having seen the latest movie and now cannot wait to see what they do with Part 2. 🤡🎈

My #litsyhandle is just the name I use on everything...my brother used to call me Supersteph, and it kind of stuck. He‘s the only one who calls me that, he‘s the only one who knows my true power 😉

I feel like I‘m making progress at last. I feel this book could‘ve been half the length and still had the same impact.
Feel kind of embarrassed at my slowness/lack of reading compared to some of you guys. Must up my game! (I know reading is not competitive, but I feel like I need to do more to even make a start at me TBR list!!)

I‘ve been dipping into the concept of Minimalism for the last year or so. I love the idea of it, and I agree with a lot of the motivations behind the lifestyle, but I find this book repeats a lot of what I already know. It‘s written well and it deserves to do well in this genre, but for me personally, it doesn‘t teach me anything new.
