Read a sneak peek of Sky in the Deep, the epic debut novel by Adrienne Young, on sale April 24, 2018. OND ELDR. BREATHE FIRE. Raised to be a warrior, seventeen-year-old Eelyn fights alongside her Aska clansmen in an ancient, rivalry against the Riki clan. Her life is brutal but simple: fight and survive. Until the day she sees the impossible on the battlefieldher brother, fighting with the enemythe brother she watched die five years ago. Faced with her brother's betrayal, she must survive the winter in the mountains with the Riki, in a village where every neighbor is an enemy, every battle scar possibly one she delivered. But when the Riki village is raided by a ruthless clan thought to be a legend, Eelyn is even more desperate to get back to her beloved family. She is given no choice but to trust Fiske, her brothers friend, who sees her as a threat. They must do the impossible: unite the clans to fight together, or risk being slaughtered one by one. Driven by a love for her clan and her growing love for Fiske, Eelyn must confront her own definition of loyalty and family while daring to put her faith in the people shes spent her life hating. I really like Adrienne Young's style of writing. The characters in this book were extremely likable. I found myself reading more than I should and then looking forward to the next time I could read. I love that feeling.

I would recommend this to anyone interested in the Norse or viking stories. The battle scenes were graphically amazing, and I thoroughly enjoyed the entire book.

📚📖 Happy Reading! 📖📚

I am LOVING this! I'm listening to it (got it from my library through Libby) and I just want to sit in my car and listen all day!

I went to visit my mom today and listened to it the whole ride which is unusual - I usually have to switch to music at some point because my brain starts drifting.

I enjoyed this book way more than Young's current series "Fable". This book was more thought out. There was two gods/goddess and two cultures built around the two. However, there was no significant loss when it came to the battle. There was no emotional impact at the end.

I really enjoyed listening to this YA audiobook. I liked the historical accuracy and was invested in Eelyn‘s journey back to her family while bringing two warring communities together. I‘ll give this 3.5/5⭐️ because it kept me interested and I will be recommending this to my students looking to continue their Vikings experience!

Kimberlone I really liked this one, but found the sequel to be pretty disappointing :/ 3y

Do you guys have any recommendations for good YA? Your favorites? I haven‘t read much YA in the past few years.

This one is already in my Kindle library so maybe I‘ll give it a go and see if it sticks 🤷🏻‍♀️

Really enjoyed this different book. Loved the theme and setting. You don't find many books about strong Viking like young women. Reminded me of Xenia Warrior Princess a bit from childhood.

WhatThePuck I'd say Six of Crows, but you might run out and buy the next book instead of reading the others you just got. 😂😂 6y

It starts with action right from the get go. There is no backstory of a simple life that a lot of fantasy stories do. I enjoyed the writing style of the author and thought it flowed well. The love story was predictable, but that does not mean it was not how I wanted the story to turn. It did take awhile for that story line to develop. This is for any one looking for an action packed fantasy not heavily lead by love.

ErinGoBragh1011 I love that bookmark! Where did you get it? 6y
nikkiy_reads Can‘t wait to get to this one!!! (edited) 6y

I had high expectations for Sky in the Deep but sadly, I'm having to give it three stars. I was really excited when I first heard about Sky in the Deep because I'm into vikings. The book has a lot of action & adventure but lacks substance . Also the secondary characters were in desperate need of development. Sky in the Deep is a decent book it just didnt live up to the hype The over all message of the book is good.

This book pulls you in front the very first page. Characters are well written and very appealing. Many unexpected twists and turns. Action and adventure on every page. I highly recommend it.

Okay I just had to show what was under the dust jacket of this awesome book. I am on chapter 5 and am completely invested in the story but I had to admire the warrior spirit of the book and of the characters. If you love bloody battle scenes as much as I do then you will love this book!

This is book number 35 of my year that I will begin tomorrow because my 15 year old son just informed me that I need to pay attention to him “like I would a new book” 😂😂😂 ooops, mom duty has been lacking he said and I genuinely feel bad. So the rest of the night I will smother him but not too much because I don‘t want him regretting our time together. This book is going to be awesome once I start it 🤓📚 but first mommy duty calls💜💜💜

Caffeinated_Reader I spent the entire day with this story and can I just say HOLY HELL! I feel like if I had been born into existence back in the warrior days of fight for survival, I could have been a great one. I feel like I could have kicked major ass haha that being said this book was brilliant. Absolutely recommend it! 7y

Received my first #OwlCrate yesterday and honestly I‘m just so impressed! Everything inside was beautiful, fun, and high quality. The theme this month is “Fight Like A Girl”, which really struck a chord with me. These aren‘t books I‘d normally read, but I‘m in a slump and really struggling so it will be good to try something new. Yay OwlCrate!
