19 posts | 42 read | 7 to read
Maya Banks, the New York Times bestselling author of romance and romantic suspense has captivated readers with her steamy Scottish historical novels, perfect for fans of Julie Garwood. Never Seduce a Scot features a remarkable woman whose rare gift teaches a gruff Scottish warrior how to listen with his heart. Eveline Armstrong is fiercely loved and protected by her powerful clan, but outsiders consider her touched. Beautiful, fey, with a level, intent gaze, she doesnt speak. No one, not even her family, knows that she cannot hear. Content with her life of seclusion, Eveline has taught herself to read lips and allows the outside world to view her as daft. But when an arranged marriage into a rival clan makes Graeme Montgomery her husband, Eveline accepts her dutyunprepared for the delights to come. Graeme is a rugged warrior with a voice so deep and powerful that his new bride can hear it, and hands and kisses so tender and skilled that he stirs her deepest passions. Graeme is intrigued by the mysterious Eveline, whose silent lips are ripe with temptation and whose bright, intelligent eyes can see into his soul. As intimacy deepens, he learns her secret. But when clan rivalries and dark deeds threaten the wife he has only begun to cherish, the Scottish warrior will move heaven and earth to save the woman who has awakened his heart to the beautiful song of a rare and magical love. From the Paperback edition.

It‘s been a while since I‘ve read and enjoyed a straight up historical romance. I picked this one up for the medieval era. It also has a deaf MC, which I appreciated. But everyone thinks she daft because she can‘t speak. I really like the way the story unfolded and was told.

Main characters were likable and this was overall a cute story. I especially liked the setting and historical atmosphere.

Plot was quite predictable but there were some surprising events as well. I liked this, this book was really entertaining!

We had some really freezing cold days this week, so on this beautiful day I took Peri on a very long walk. We walked through campus and had a lot of students smiling and cooing over Peri. And I made a nice dent in my audiobook. 🐕🚶‍♀️#romantsy #audiowalking

On my after work walk I started a new audiobook. This is a re-read for me. I last read it in 2012 and really enjoyed it. I'm curious how it holds up. #romantsy #audiowalking

“She looked angelic in sleep, dark lashes resting against pale cheeks. Her blond hair was tousled and in disarray and spread out. Over his pillow. He frowned. She'd even stolen his pillow.”

Reading this book for the second time - actually listening to the audiobook. Whenever I'm in the mood for Highland Romance, Maya Bank's highlander series are my go to.

These were good for what they were, I guess? The first one, Never seduce a Scot was a combination of every typical romance novel trope you could make up, so it was a little tiring, but unexpected because you didn't know what part of the kitchen sink you'd be finding. And Highlander Most Wanted was better written but maybe not a better book, if you get me. Good to read, if you come across them but there are better Highlander romances.

I think I just wasn't in the right mood (I'm feeling a bit of a book slump), but this was just a sweet romance that I could have put down and walked away from. I'm still giving it a pick though, because I really appreciated the fact the author made the heroine deaf and based her heroine's experience with hearing loss on her husband's experiences.

Sweet lord did I enjoy this. Our male lead is not your stereotypical sleep around with tons of ladies and I love him for it. Eveline became deaf after and accident and has allowed everyone to think her crazy to keep herself safe. It was great to see a healthy and respectful relationship in a historical romance. Graeme will be one of my favorites forever more.

I always enjoy rereading Maya Banks's historicals, this one being my favorite out of them all. The long awaited third book is set to be released (hopefully) in February of 2018. I'm really hoping that she also writes books about Graeme's other brother and sister and Eveline's other brother! Her health comes first, of course, but with her finally on the road to recovery 🤞🏻#OSRBC #romantsy

Lauren_reading I'm not so patiently waiting for that next book!!! I was so sad when I heard about her health problems and hope it's gotten better! (edited) 7y
AmandaMarie @LaurenReads The latest update says she's recovering. She went to another doctor and he found out what was wrong, did surgery, and so far what he did is working and everything is healing. 7y
EloisaJames I'm so sorry to hear that. 7y

I downloaded this the other day because it was on sale and it turned out to be pretty enjoyable. It was nice to have a deaf heroine and Graeme was fiercely protective while also being a huge sweetie. Cute!

I guess I'll just continue to read historical romances until @24in48 since that's all I seem interested in right now.
