I hardly ever read self-help books. In fact, I only read them when they are the monthly book club pick for ModernMrsDarcy.com #MMD. I‘m not a big fan but, as self-help books go, this one was pretty good. I mean, how can you not like a book about Joy? I really liked this fresh perspective.
⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
A great read - after a tumultuous couple of years, this book was a very timely reminder of how we can all find joy and happiness in the simplest of things, we just need to look for them through the joy seeking mindset. A reminder to appreciate the smallest yet some of the most joyful things in life such as a sunset, a furbabies kiss, or a perfect cup of tea. #joyful #ingridfetelllee #tea_sipping_bookworm #goodreads #litsy #thestorygraph
To recap, this (home decorating/travel?) book goes something like: ‘Bright colors are better than beige, circles are better than rectangles, I‘m going to Paris.‘ This would have made a really nice picture-filled coffee table book since it‘s so visually descriptive, but otherwise, the TED Talk was enough for me. Meanwhile, my dearest friend adores this book and refers to it often, so there you go! 🤷🏻♀️
So glad to have found this! I haven‘t participated in a month or two, but plan to make this a reading weekend! I need to finish the three books I currently have started and would like to start (& finish?) the following:
1.) The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo #bookspin
2.) The Southern Book Club‘s Guide...#doublespin
If I was able to get anything more started it might be Anxious People since I could listen while diamond painting!

Such a great book! Probably my most enjoyed non fiction this year. Being a designer myself, I loved the authors point of view, and found the aesthetics of joy completely fascinating. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I read Joyful when it first came out, but I still think about it in moments like these.

With happy splashes of colorful confetti, the book‘s cover sets a joyful tone. Ingrid Fetell Lee approaches the subject of joy & happiness seriously. As a designer, she‘d studied how aesthetics change people‘s attitudes and behavior from the outside in. She says aesthetics can help reveal why some stores & restaurants bustle w/ activity and others stand quiet, empty. #joyful #bookreview #happiness #joy
Knitting my way through the rainbow while considering the fact that rainbows bring joy to people.
I was surprised by this book. It's more about design and how that can create happiness, than just about straight up happiness. It was somewhat interesting but, for me, not that great.
Tissues on standby, Littens! This is beautiful ❤️❤️😭

I recently finished this book and it left me thinking alot about how to bring more joy into everyday life. We're always surrounded by so much negativity and sadness that we may forget there are many things to be happy about and many ways to brighten up the world around you. A very nice read for anyone that wants to bring a little more fun and happiness into their lives. 🎉🎈😄
Some happy reads...
I found this to be such a great book. The whole concept of it was awesome. We cannot really live/thrive without experiencing joy! She really very much empowered me in my quest to live a joyful life and to help make sure this is true for as many others as possible. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Wonders never cease if we are willing to look for them.

Don't let the coloured polka dots on the cover fool you. This book is not an easy read, but it is a well researched and thorough one. And one that, ultimately, brought me a lot of joy. I can see this is as a book I would gladly buy and dip into frequently just to give me a nudge to top up my joy every now and then, and new ways to go about it. Really interesting, and will open your eyes to a things that you never really appreciated before.
I'm back in school so my time to read "fun" reads is minimal, but does that stop me from buying new books? No. No it does not. #bookshopping #somanybookssolittletime
