"A seemingly perfect marriage is threatened by the deadly secrets husband and wife keep from each other, for fans of B.A. Paris and Paula Hawkins. Susannah, a young widow and single mother, has remarried well: to Max, a charismatic artist and popular speaker whose career took her and her fifteen-year-old son out of New York City and to a quiet Vermont university town. Strong-willed and attractive, Susannah expects that her life is perfectly in place again. Then one quiet morning she finds a note on her door: I KNOW WHO YOU ARE. Max dismisses the note as a prank. But days after a neighborhood couple comes to dinner, the husband mysteriously dies in a tragic accident while on a run with Max. Soon thereafter, a second note appears on their door: DID YOU GET AWAY WITH IT? Both Susannah and Max are keeping secrets from the world and from each other --secrets that could destroy their family and everything they have built. The Perfect Liar is a thrilling novel told through the alternating perspectives of Susannah and Max with a shocking climax that no one will expect, from the bestselling author of The Headmaster's Wife"--

#doublebookspin complete. This was a super-quick domestic drama/thriller about a woman and her second husband who have recently moved to Vermont, where the husband has just received a job as a rock-star art professor. Easy to read, lots of twists and holy unreliable narrators, Batman! This is my 3rd book by the author. @TheAromaofBooks

THE PERFECT LIAR is thrilling. It‘s told from the alternating perspectives of Max and Susannah. Each has their own story to tell, and it all unwinds in due course. The story is a ricocheting tale of lies and it‘s impossible to put down the book. https://www.bluestockingreviews.com/blog/the-perfect-liar

I don‘t know if it‘s me right now or the books 🙄😫 but this one just didn‘t do it for me either. Pretty easy to guess.

All seems perfect for Max, Susannah and Freddy but nothing is as it seems. Difficult and disturbing read, with gratuitous violence and vulgarity. The characters were unreliable, unlikable and disturbed and on the whole distracted from the plot‘s potential and my enjoyment of this book. ⭐️⭐️ #netgalley #40in2019TBR

Susannah was first married to Joseph, who was her therapist. Together they had a son Freddy. Joseph died and left Susannah to raise Freddy on her own. But she meets Max and they get married.
Max becomes an art teacher at the local university and everything is going great for the family until a note is found on the door. I Know Who You Are. Susannah and Max are lost to who could have wrote that message.
I enjoyed this one!

Well I knocked out another book from my #NetGalley - This book was wayyyyyy too predictable and lacked any true suspense. TCG is capable of writing a much better novel. Not quite a pan, but a very weak 1.5 stars ✨

Thought I‘d just jump right into another new #ARC #NetGalley 📚I enjoyed The Headmaster‘s Wife so I‘m hoping this one will not disappoint. I did see reviews from @Well-ReadNeck & @eanderson so I‘m a little concerned 😬I thought this passage about the NY art scene was pretty snarky & spot on, “all the novelist from Brooklyn named Jonathan were here, with their blocky glasses...”

Mdargusch Great description! 6y
eanderson Lol! It wasn‘t my favorite book. I will say it kept me reading it though! 6y
Cinfhen I agree @eanderson it‘s pretty crappy but I‘m already at the 65% mark🤪WTF was with that fox? And it‘s obvious Susannah is hiding something ( I‘m guessing those notes were meant for her?!?!!) and Freddie is NO straight arrow either. #EffedUpNYers 6y
Cinfhen That was totally predictable @eanderson 😝 6y
eanderson Oh the fox... personally I think it shows that Susannah isn‘t stable either. It‘s something a serial killer or a creepy kid would do! Haha! It definitely is predictable. 6y

requested this one because I adored the author‘s earlier work, The Headmaster‘s Wife. The Perfect Liar, unfortunately, did not resonate with me. The twist in the plot was obvious from early on and there were no red herrings or alternative solutions, really. Seems to be piggybacking on the Gone Girl phenomenon. #netgalley

Thank you to @StMartinsPress for this #goodreadsgiveaway I don‘t want to compare this book to Gone Girl but it‘s hard not to due to how terrible the main characters were. I completely despised both of them and I didn‘t feel sympathy for either, but it was a decent read! I felt like I flew through the book and enjoyed it. I would give it 3.5/5 🌟 It was a good mindless read but some of the scenes felt a tad unrealistic.
