As an aside, I just logged my 1,000th book read on Litsy! Last year I had hoped to reach 1,000 books and 250,000 pages read. I met the pages goal but fell short of the other (by three, I think), mostly because of events in the fall that derailed my reading (and life) for the rest of the year. But I made it! And now I‘n catching up on some posts for this week.

4 tales. A deputy comes to a reckoning with his past, ghosts meet up in a bar on a Saturday night to pay penance, an old man searches for his friends, and a barber remembers his purpose. I‘m going to file this under recession horror. All tales take place in the dying cursed town of Milestone. Burke solidly writes about the hopelessness and regret mixed with the supernatural. This was a nice snack of a book at 166 pgs to get ready for Halloween.

I did not even realize until I looked at my feed that I hit this milestone today. I love being part of this community of book lovers. You are all some of the kindest and smartest people I have ever encountered. I look forward to many more years of sharing all things reading with you 💕
