Murder on a Midsummer Night
Murder on a Midsummer Night: A Phryne Fisher Mystery | Kerry Greenwood
11 posts | 16 read | 16 to read
The Hon. Phryne Fisher, languid and slightly bored at the start of 1929, is engaged to find out if the antique-shop son of a Pre-Raphaelite model has died by homicide or suicide. He has some strange friends a Balkan adventuress, a dilettante with a penchant for antiquities, a Classics professor, a medium and a mysterious supplier who arrives after dark on a motorbike. At the same time she is asked to discover the fate of the lost illegitimate child of a rich old lady, to the evident dislike of the remaining relatives.

I sped through this via audiobook in the last two days. I love Phryne, and she is at her sassiest in this book. The narration is great as always. I would highly recommend this series. 5⭐️

Now, on to book 18 which happens to be my favorite in the series! 🤓

Almost... missing 2 things, on their way. Still, I do have backups. I'm not the best wrapper but I did find a pretty flower wrapping paper. #summersantagoespostal2019 @BookishMarginalia

LeahBergen That‘s very cheery wrap! I‘m waiting for two more things, too. 😬 5y

Bk17 of Phryne Fisher series is done. ‘It‘s Phrynes first summer in Oz & she‘s not enjoying it at all. But when she gets two strange cases dropped in her overheated lap, the normally unflappable Miss is sent into a tizzy. One involves the possible illegitimate baby of a deceased wealthy woman & the other an antiques dealer found drowned in the bay.‘ I‘ve only got 3 books to go in this reread, please Ms Greenwood, write more! #phryneappreciationclub

In my mind I'm at a fabulous party, dressed in a stylish costume inspired by Phryne Fisher. IRL I'm at home in my Halloween jammies. 👠👗💋 #phryneappreciationclub

Susannah I read the first book after watching the first 1-1/2 seasons of the television show. I enjoyed the book, though I think book Phryne's a *bit* more frivolous than TV Phryne. I wish there were more episodes of the show, but I will content myself with the books. I really enjoyed the first one. (edited) 5y
Crinoline_Laphroaig @Susannah I love both Book Phryne and TV Phryne. At first TV Phryne was my favorite but after 18 Books in series, Book Phryne is just tab more my favorite. I will miss her when I come to an end 5y

#AugustGrrrl #day13 #RaiseYourGlass To the one and only Miss Phryne Fisher.Able to charm her way in any situation, she drinks only the finest champagne, the best cocktails made by the inimitable Mr Butler, but will also down a beer with her red ragger taxi drivers, Bert & Cec or even a shot of vodka or schnapps with a client. She's a force to be reckoned with, as a PI there's none better even in an age where women were supposed to be meek & mild.

Cinfhen I'll definitely raise my glass 🥂💕great post 7y

#24in48 #readathon Book One is done and dusted, took me a bit longer than normal because my bloody eyesight is in need of stronger glasses 👓 Bk17 in the Phryne Fisher series, just as wonderful as the previous books. Phryne is hired by a mother who is adamant her adult son would never commit suicide & by a lawyer acting for a family who need to know if their mother had an illegitimate child. Numerous enquiries find that the cases are crossed. 5⭐️

I'm more of a stay home and read in Halloween jammies, but if I was going to dress up Phryne would be my #1 Choice. @RealLifeReading #booktober #CharacterIdDressUpAs
