Bucky Orson is a bit gloomy, but who isnt at fifteen? His best friend left him to hang out with way cooler friends, his dad is the town sheriff, and wait for ithe lives in Blackwell, a town where all the girls are witches. But when his little sister is kidnapped because of her extraordinary power, Bucky has to get out of his own head and go on a strange journey to investigate the small town that gives him so much grief. And in the process he uncovers the towns painful history and a conspiracy that will change it forever. Beautiful, spooky, and utterly enchanting, Grimoire Noir is a magical story of coming to terms with your own flaws and working past them to protect those dear to you.

Y‘all I love this. It‘s such a cool concept and executed really well too. I highly recommend it if anyone likes cool art, magic, and slightly tragic teens.

Supernatural YA graphic novel where women can be witches but can never leave their magical town if they develop a power. But also their magic can run out, and also-also the men can‘t have magic and that goes over about as well as you‘d expect. A boy is trying to find his missing sister and some of the town witches are more eager to help than others.

A graphic novel made for me. Historical fiction with magic. Girls rising up.

I did pretty well this week. I managed to finish two books from my weekly forecast, knock a few books off of my (seemingly endless) #mounttbr and read a few great graphic novels, to boot. #bookreport

Absolutely stunning sepia-toned artwork with pops or gold and ghostly blue are the real standout of this graphic novel, but the inventive storyline about a town that tolerates but traps witches is almost equally good. Magic, mystery, and lots of noir vibes. Thoroughly enjoyed this one!

This one was okay. The story felt very jumbled but I loved the illustration. A kidnapped child in a world of magical females. One brother will stop at nothing to find his sister. 3🌟🌟🌟

This is yet another library borrow that I will have to go buy my own copy of. The illustrations are GORGEOUS. The character facial expressions are dead on for the entire graphic novel. This would be a fantastic Halloween read. It's got a missing sister, a flooding small town with magical powers, a creepy manor, a ghost in a well and a secretive coven. One of the best graphic novels I've ever read (I haven't read a ton but a couple dozen).

JulietReads I just finished reading "The Nickel Boys," and I noticed that the author's last name is Whitehead. I like Greentea better... 5y

I am so proud of this photo. You don't even understand.
Also, I wish I had a last name as amazing as Greentea.
