'This book is a joy to read, unlocking every bit of delicious promise in the premise' B&N Sci-Fi & Fantasy Blog on Strange Practice MEET GRETA HELSING, DOCTOR TO THE UNDEAD In the hills above Marseille, Oasis Natrun is a highly secret health spa for mummies, equipped with the very latest therapeutic innovations both magical and medical. To Dr Greta Helsing, it sounds like paradise. But when she takes the job of interim clinical director, it isn't long before Greta finds herself faced with a medical mystery that will take all her diagnostic skill to solve. With help from her friends and colleagues - including demons, witches and the inimitable vampyre Sir Francis Varney - Greta must put a stop to this mysterious illness before anybody else crumbles to irreparable dust. Praise for the series: 'I loved every page of it . . . a spectacularly fun book' Powder and Page 'Balances an agile mystery with a pitch-perfect, droll narrative and a cast of loveable misfit characters' Shelf Awareness 'Shaw's elegant writing makes this series a standout in the genre' Booklist 'Packed with characters who are a pleasure to spend time with' ScifiNow

#ScarathlonDailyPrompts #Day12 #Grave This is the 3rd book in the Dr Greta Helsing series. About a GP who specializes in treating supernatural creatures of all kinds. Descended from Van Helsing, she looks after all the creatures of the night(and daytime too)including mummys, zombies, ghouls, vampires, ghosts & demons. Highly recommend. #Scarathlon #TeamSlaughter 6pts

I love the series, & I‘m happy with how it ended, but this was my least favorite. There were slow parts that made it difficult to focus, & there‘s a couple of questions left unanswered for me. Such as, something happens to one of the main characters connecting him to a curse among Greta‘s mummy patients (even though he‘s not a mummy), & yet we never find out why/how he was connected. But I enjoyed the story & the narrator is still amazing.

There! I didn't read at all the things I planned/expected to, but despite my end-of-module exams for my MSc and everything else, I have a bingo! #BookSpinBingo

This third book is so MUCH. Like, there's direct divine intercession, twice, and there's Greta's battlefield-adjacent medicine, and... it starts out slowly with her work at the spa and the mystery of what's happening to the mummies, and then BOOM.

It's so good, but it's such a lot, too.

I'm sneaking in little bits of this between emails at work, ahaha. Thank goodness for being self-employed. Will I make it to the end before June's over? Maybe. Right now I'm back to caring more about whether the characters sort things out, which is a relief; there was a few days there where I was reading because reading challenges said I HAD to, and I was putting books down almost as soon as I picked them up...

I have forgotten sooo many of the details here.

I'm a little worried I will, for the first time, not get anything this month for #BookSpinBingo. 230 pages to read -- in theory doable, but my brain hasn't been letting me read much.

blurb

Time for a reread. 💙 I almost resent the bigger plot for how fascinating it is to follow Greta around in the mummy spa, though, and how little of that we end up getting?!

I received my monthly Audible credit, so my next listen is book 3 of the Dr. Greta Helsing trilogy. Can‘t wait to see where this one takes Greta.

Dr. Greta Helsing decides to take a vacation by substituting for the medical director of a mummy wellness spa where the clients are having mysterious fainting spells.

I adore the medical practices, the variety of really well developed side characters, the adult relationships, & the interweaving mystery.

But, I continue to be irritated that these books are mostly Greta & The Boys. And the climax was way too neat & deeply unsatisfying. 🌕🌕🌕🌗🌑

This one was so much better than the 2nd book! Greta goes to work at a spa for mummies. There is some mysterious affecting the mummies that they can‘t figure out. I think this is the last book in the series. It ended so great!

I love this creepy, quirky fantasy series! Since I read the last two books in a row, I reviewed them in one blog post. Shaw takes bits of traditional monster literature and runs it through a prism of her own tongue-and-cheek humor and weird science to create likable characters and intense contemporary fantasy. Not as gritty as some urban fantasy, but full of devious drama.

Bk3 of #NovelNovember #Readathon & Bk1 of #ProgressItNovember is done. The 3rd book in the Greta Helsing series was just as good as the 1st two. Greta is one of the few doctors specialising in treating supernatural beings. When a colleague asks her to take over his “Mummy Spa”(Egyptian not yummy)for a few months, she jumps at the chance to flee London‘s rain, until mysterious fainting spells start to afflict her patients. Loved the entire series.

Next up for #NovelNovember & my 1st for #ProgressItNovember is the third in the Dr Greta Halsing series, about a London doctor whose specialty is supernatural creatures. This includes vampires, werewolfs, zombies, ghouls etc It‘s a great series, there‘s a nice touch of snark involved which I always love, and is a nice “between the heavy” series to try. In this book, Dr Helsing has been asked to consult at a health spa for Mummies in France.

Andrew65 Sounds very interesting. 😊 4y

The resolution was a tiny bit too easy for my liking, but otherwise I love everything about this trilogy and would happily reread from book one right away.

As usual, the world is ending and Greta and company end up being in charge of stopping it: fainting mummies, a great heist, and angels vs. angels and demons. Another great installment in this series, and the last! I'm sorry to see it end, but I like that it didn't drag on either.

This was an unexpectedly good ending to an interesting series. I never thought mummies could be made relatable. This is the third book so do read the other two beforehand. It is worth it.

Greta Helsing is a doctor to the things that go bump in the night. In this third book in the series, she and her friends are recuperating from their last ordeal, and Greta is filling in at her dream job - Director of medical resort dedicated to keeping the mummies of the world in working order. But a supernatural force keeps interfering with their reality and it takes all of Heaven and Hell to hold them at bay.

I loved this series, even though this wasn't my favorite book in it.

emz711 Hi! I didn't realize I could see my own secret santa book entry! Sorry about goodreads, did not realize it was private. I've had both of those books on my want to read so you got it totally right! Thanks! 5y

Eeeee! This was SO good! The 3rd in the Dr. Greta Helsing is definitely my favorite. I loved seeing more of the medical side of Dr. Helsing. I love love the idea of a mummy private clinic/spa and a hospital in Hell.

A solid 5/5 for me!

I have so much love for this book and series!

Greta finds herself working at a Clinic for Mummies when things start to go awry. As usual her friends come together to try and do as much as they can to straighten things out, although this time the chaos was more widespread than they imagined. I felt like I went through it all with them!

Five stars, no question! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Overall, this final book in the trilogy was sweet and heartfelt. It felt choppier and slower than the others and there were a few strings that I don't think were tied up, but I'll miss these characters and look forward to more of Ms. Shaw's books...and really what else can you ask for?

So I know I started a new book yesterday buuut I came home after a long day, cold and wet from the incessant rain and the angel that is my husband presented me with this book! 😍 So I am getting cosy with tea, chocolate and what I hope will be another fantastic instalment of the adventures of Greta Helsing 💛

Yet another in my TBR list for this month! 😂 There are a lot of vampires in this series, and they seem to hangout in crypts and graveyards fairly often so I‘m counting it.

I liked the third and final book in the Greta Helsing series. I loved the bits where Greta is treating her supernatural patients, but didn't care much for how high the stakes were and the scope of the threat. The solution was too neat, but all in all I had fun reading.

Tagged by @Lynnsoprano Thanks for thinking of me ♥️♥️
? Nothing this year has really struck me as something I can't live without, I feel like I'm searching.
? I've run into a really high number of "absolutely not, nope", more than usual.
? The new Strange Practice comes out this fall ?
? Read. My. Damn. Shelves. (I'm actually all caught up on Audible, but my bookshelf isn't speaking to me).
