“The first time he hit me I was nineteen. I can hear his voice now, so persuasive, so low and yet somehow so strong, making me understand once again that I'm all wrong...” Fran has a terrible secret

Book 11
I listened to this book about a woman who, with her son, adopts a new identity to escape an abusive husband. Though many books exist with this general plot, Black and Blue has some unique aspects, especially in the son's storyline. The narration was grating at times. Reading The Last Flight, which cross-overs in storyline, during the same time period was a disadvantage for both books. 3.5 stars
I picked up the tagged book for $2 at a sidewalk sale a few weeks ago, so I figured I‘d add it to my list for July. #bookspin
I have some old #BlueBook titles on the shelves of my library wall. When my eyes fall on Black & Blue (tagged) I still send up hope for those terrorized in their own homes but see no way out.

This book was inspiring and with the strong subject of domestic abuse and alcoholism. It was depressing to me but the author did a wonderful job putting a face on physical spousal abuse and perseverance. 🌟🌟🌟

Author Jillian Cantor personally recommended this to me, as it's one of her favorite books. I'm enjoying it so far; have you read it? #amreading #recommendation
